Yesterday, on rain soaked Shop Street awash with bargain hunters, Galway IPSC did an awareness stall on Israeli Blood Diamonds in a continuing effort to persuade people not to purchase gemstones crafted in Israel and thus strenghtening the economy of a rogue state that, in regards to human rights, shamelessly exults and behaves like a mad dog off the leash. Israel, the dominant and alpha player in the cut diamond business, unlike Canada, doesn't mark the diamonds it crafts and the UN, true to form, exempts these conflict stones from the Kimberley Process thus leading to purchasers unwittingly buying the ordure of Zionism. read full story / add a comment

It is not so easy to build a time line on the issue of Tara and all that this entails. For starters the issue began many years ago and the campaigns have largely evolved with new people coming on to help as was necessitated, however, the General Election of 2007 provided a useful focus and of course saw a corrupt Minister for Environment replaced by one who is morally inept and constitutionally Hamstrung.. but I will give it a go. http://www.savetara.com/articles/2007/122707_contractor....html read full story / add a comment ![]()

In a discovery that sheds new light on the current conspicuous refusal of the Garda Síochána to search US military aircraft and CIA aircraft suspected of carrying victims of torture through Shannon Airport, the Irish Times today tells us that Taoiseach Seán Lemass personally authorised searches of aircraft at Shannon in 1962. The difference is that these were Cuban aircraft, that the searches were instigated at the request of the United States, and that data gleaned from these searches were passed to the US embassy for the next eight years. read full story / add a comment
