Come along to hear some key speakers on issues relating to the economic MESS we are all facing! This will be a day of solidarity with Occupy protests taking place in over 1600 cities worldwide. Occupy Galway is part of the international movement against austerity measures imposed on ordinary people around the world. We are all part of the 99% who, so far, have been subject to economic inequality and social injustice from the 1% who control the world's resources. We, the 99% demand:

1 - The removal of the IMF and ECB from all Irish financial affairs;
2 - That the national debt imposed on Irish people from the bank bailouts be lifted;
3 - The return of Irish resources (gas, oil, forestry) to the people of Ireland;
4 - Real particpatory democracy.

The Palestinians are poised to make their case to the UN . Statehood or observational status.the Palestinians are being provoked to retaliate against the continued expansion of Israel into their territories, The illegal Separation Wall wall runs through farms , bisecting Palestinian farms - sure he can travel a couple of miles to get to the other side of his farm .
The Israelis are in continuous violation of UN mandates every day . Yet the Israelis have a vote at the General Assembly of the UN .
They are now trying to block the Palestinians from any form of alliance with the UN . The General assembly will ratify Palestine as as an observer country . A public meeting has been called by residents and community activists who are unhappy about the household charge which will be introduced in January as part of the government’s austerity measures.

The meeting, which will take place on Monday 3rd October at 7pm in Westside Community Centre is open to all and is aimed specifically at residents of Westside, Shantalla and Newcastle.

The meeting is one of hundreds of similar gatherings that are taking place throughout the country. A national campaign of resistance to the household charge is being planned which will see hundreds of thousands of families boycott the new tax when it is introduced in January 2012. read full story / add a comment
