The Sugar Tax Sums Up Our Descent into Technocratic Dystopia Thu May 08, 2025 19:00 | Dr David McGrogan
The sugar tax sums up Britain's descent into a technocratic dystopia, says Dr David McGrogan. While our Government does almost nothing well, it remains a world-leader in passive-aggressive, surreptitious nudging.

UK ?Shafted? by US Trade Deal Thu May 08, 2025 17:44 | Will Jones
The US-UK trade deal announced today is a clear win for Trump, says Sam Ashworth-Hayes, leaving the UK worse off than in March and opening up UK markets in exchange only for reducing recently imposed tariffs.

Australia?s Liberal Party Only Has Itself to Blame for its Crushing Defeat by Labour Thu May 08, 2025 15:30 | Dr James Allan
As in Canada, so in Australia, the crushing defeat of the conservative Liberal Party by Labour has been widely blamed on Trump. But in truth, Peter Dutton and his team only have themselves to blame, says Prof James Allan.

The Govt.s overall strategy fails miserably in tackling the issue of Climate Change not to mention the mess that is Transport. The Meath Master Plan is Genius and the World Heritage Park would save what is let of our heritage in the area of Tara that they have desecrated.
Carmel
Future?
Best of Luck with this Carmel and the campaigns. Keep the info coming and am looking forward to seeing the pics.
regards for the New Year.
Does this mean that you are gong to clog country roads with walkers and put their and other road users lives in jeopardy ?
of course they are love- sure isn't that what its all about- challenging the comfort zones of those
who cannot think for themselves and buy the PR spin of the corrupt state?
We could all wait for the EU case or the eventual tribunal on planning corruption but some of
these issues need exposing now and its a good way to unclog the arteries- you know .. walking.

Happy New Year- sure bring the whip and the drum -we'll work some calories off the terminally fat
and overweight car-users yet.
:-)
The majority of the people can and do think for themselves and do not swallow any PR what so ever.
Merely because some people hold an independant point of view and different to that of the Save Tara/Skryne activists does not mean that they have swallowed the State/NRA PR either.
Civilisations build on the ruins of previous civilisations, were that not the case we would be living on rafts out in the Atlantic...
When you travel on a new motorway for example the M1, are you aware of exactly how many Bronze or Iron Age sites lie under that road - No!
Of all the ancient sites that have been discovered along the M3 route, can you tell us people, of how many were anually visited on a regular basis for the purpose of a Pagan ritual ? I would suggest that only Rath Lugh was ever visited and then very infrequently?
The Walk tomorrow to Kilmessin will achieve what ?, an inconvenience for other road users and sore feet for a few fat activists.
Personally I think the independant thinkers are rather tired of reading and hearing about the narrow minded and bigoted views of the Tara activists.
This walk is not about a road, it's about a landscape with the potential to be a park. The Tara landscape.
It's also advertised as an off road walk.
Narrow minded and bigoted? A fitting description for yourself independent.
Are you really Independent?
I don't think so.
12.30 tomorrow. Meet outside the Ardboyne Hotel which is on the left hand side of the road ( coming from Dublin) just before you enter Navan.
Well done everyone who turned up today to walk the line from Navan to Kilmessan. Even the rain held off for us as we enjoyed the fresh air and a nice stroll through the countryside. We followed the old disused railway line as far as it was possible and did the rest of the walk by road. Thebest part of the entertainment was coming across security at a construction site of the M3 near Ardsallagh :) A lone Security Guard got straight on the phone for back up as soon as he saw the Thirteen Intrepid Explorers hovering over the horizon. We were soon joined by a van load curious to see what we were up to with our banners. We didnt bother them and they didnt bother us . Still, they had to have something to do to earn at that overtime didnt they!
Well lets hope they got talking about the Meath Master Plan and World Heritage Park :)

A Short Stop
In all due respects, the ‘can’t stand in the way of progress’ argument is rather a lame. Its conclusion is that there is no need for planning, social and environmental impact studies and the like. And in this context it is selfish, short sighted and bigoted.
The importance of the Tara Skreen Valley landscape and complex of sites is how little we know of it! We have little knowledge of site functions, their context, how each site relates to each other, indeed if there are still sites to be discovered. Only after we have understand the sites and their landscape, can we then start to understand the people who lived there. In understanding the people of then, gives us great insight to things today. This is more than Irish history, its European history. But now this is going to be lost before it has a chance to show us what it is.
In the long term the area could offer something as important as Pompeii. But what are you going to get instead? A toll road.
You can’t stand in the way of progress can you?
True progress would be to designate the Tara Landscape as a World Heritage National Park, to create a sustainable transport system within a very short time frame and develop a sustainable development region in the long term.
In this scenario, who would want to stand in the way of progress?
None but a bunch of gangsters.
