For the past six months and longer once Libya had fallen to the NATO sponsored 'rebels', we have faced a continuous media onslaught about Syria with reports of protests, shootings, killings, attacks, bombing and so forth. The backdrop to the narrative is that this is part of the Arab Spring which started last year and it is a good thing overall. So many people are probably wondering what really has been happening, given that this is the same media that was cheer leading the Iraq war almost 10 years ago even though at least a million+ are now dead as a result. And yet somehow they want to imply that they are doing the right thing now. We should also recall that this is the same media that is promoting austerity and encouraging us to accept the blame for the mad years of the bubble and as a consequence we should pay up the €90 billion bailout and in the process see all the state services stripped to the bone. They are presenting the uncomplicated truth surely read full story / add a comment

Anonymous threaten Islamic Fundamentalists. The misogynist mullahs will end up as halal minced beef! Full text at url.

Hackers claiming to belong to the Anonymous Internet freedom group posted video messages on Facebook pages of Tunisian Islamists, threatening reprisals over their efforts to introduce Salafist laws.

"We are fighting you... your emails, your bank accounts and transactions will be probed, your hard discs will be copied," said a man wearing the Guy Fawkes mask that has become a trade mark of Anonymous members. "If the Tunisian government won't stop your activities in the weeks to come, Anonymous will," he added.

"We are not against religion, we are Muslims, but we are defending freedom in our country," a separate written message said, posted along with images of the Tunisian flag. read full story / add a comment

Aer Lingus introduces racist language testing

Aer Lingus (http://www.aerlingus.com/aboutus/), the national flag airline of Ireland, has introduced language tests at check-in for foreigners flying to Ireland. The tests are stated to be a security measure intended to detect imposters travelling on fake or stolen passports from a number of European Union countries. The selected foreign nationals are required to pass a written comprehension test in English and in their own language before admission to the flight. The affected countries are stated to be Greece, Italy and Portugal.

Although targeting 'high-risk' EU nationals, the language tests are probably aimed at detecting Asian or African migrants travelling on passports from these countries. This may be a taste of things to come in Ireland, with language and civics tests on Alan Shatter's list of priorities for 2012 (http://www.inis.gov.ie/en/JELR/Pages/PR12000001)

Western forces shot dead 16 civilians including nine children in southern Kandahar province on Sunday, Afghan officials said, in a rampage that witnesses said was carried out by American soldiers who were laughing and appeared drunk. Media are trying to spin the incident and limit the damage by claiming just one soldier was responsible. The old "one bad apple" excuse. Eoghan Harris regularly rants about terrorism both real and imaginary. While he still checks under his bed for Trots his main fear is that we are in a Weimar Republic stage and Sinn Fein are on the verge of seizing power. He fails to notice that his beloved Blueshirts are the one party in Ireland with a Fascist past. read full story / add a comment
