An Irish woman, Ciara Durkin, was shot in suspicious circumstances in Afghanistan. She was shot in the head inside Bagram air base in Afghanistan. She had previously warned her family to investigate if she was killed. read full story / add a comment ![]()

RTÉ has announced a programme in its Hidden History series making controversial claims about IRA sectarianism during the War of independence. This is how RTE is currently publicising it: Guns and Neighbours: The Killings at Coolacrease “The bloody tale of a bitter land dispute, involving a family of Protestant farmers in County Offaly, which comes to a deadly conclusion during the War of Independence. this started as a letter to my philosophy lecturers expressing my disatisfaction about the passiveness of acadmic philosophy. Then i got carried away and started to spew my frustrations about youth orientated consumerism. I never hear this subject, that i believe is the root to most of the flaws in society today, debated in the media. I sent it to the major newspapers but got no response. Last night two men were shot dead in Greenhills Road in Dublin. The story with attendant media-speak is hitting the headlines in the form of : "Two Men Shot dead In Gangland Attack". The details are that:
A car carrying two gunmen pulled up to a garage and shot the owner and salesman, between nine and ten bullets were fired.

About 200 people have been arrested at Faslane nuclear weapons base in Scotland during a peaceful nonviolent blockade there on Monday 1st October to mark the culmination of Faslane365, a year of resistance. Among those arrested was Mark Chapman from Belfast who said, “I have traveled here to Faslane to uphold international law.
