The system of economics which we have lived by for well over a decade has given us the many benefits of a booming economy- higher wages, a better standard of living, and an overall sense of happiness and well being. But what of those left behind? What of the multi-national companies, and profit driven banks, who take full advantage of the elitist and greedy philosophy of this system driven totally by profit? About 27 people attended an Easter Peace Vigil at Shannon airport. Seven were peace activists, from Shannon, Limerick, Galway, Dublin and Cork, and the remainder were Gardai and airport police. Within the airport fence a US Hercules C 130 warplane was being protected by a unit of the Irish army, and an Omni Air chartered US troopcarrier was also parked in the centre of the aerodrome. read full story / add a comment
