National Water Charge Protests - Saturday 31st Jan 2015
Community Groups will protest across Ireland

Community Groups around Ireland will protest in towns, cities and villages across Ireland about the water charges on Saturday 31 January. Seek them out and join them!

The government are still planning to privatize Irish Water. If and when this happens, then extra charges will be brought in for your waste water as well. This will be estimated to be equal what goes into your house. After the next election, the government will allow the charges to go up to the target amount of at least €400 to €600 per year per household. This means every time you shower, flush a toilet, clean your hands, wash your clothes, wash your dishes, it will cost you. In poorer areas this will lead to people flushing their toilets less and washing less and cleaning their clothes less and will become a public health issue over the longer run. We must stop this madness now and affirm that water is recognised as a human right and that the Irish government abolish domestic water charges. Please spread the word.

If you care about the future of water for yourself and your children then get out there and make your voice heard on Saturday 31st Jan

Captain Peter will briefly talk about the Sea Shepherd movement and specifically the past and upcoming Antarctica Whale Defence Campaigns.

He will be giving his Open Talk during the afternoon of Sun 28th Sept at St Andrews Resource Centre which is hosting a World Vegetarian Day event all afternoon. Later in the evening from 7pm to 9pm there is an opportunity to have dinner and drinks with Capt Peter in Cornucopian Restaurant. Tickets for this part are from contact@seashepherd.ie

In 2014 the UN International Court of Justice ruled that Japanese Whaling in Antarctica was illegal, many thought the battle was won, but Sea Shepherd Australia are preparing to return to Antarctica as the poachers seeks to resume the killing of whales in the Southern Whale Sanctuary.

Children born with 'atypical genitals' are routinely submitted to mutilating 'corrective' surgeries allover the 'developed' world, and also Irish children's clinics.
On occasion of yet another multinational gathering of notorious advocates and perpetrators of Intersex Genital Mutilations, the '53rd Annual Meeting of the European Society for Paediatric Endocrinology (ESPE)' held at the Convention Centre Dublin, there will be an Info Event Tue 16th 5.30 pm @ National Women's Council of Ireland (NWCI), and 4 Nonviolent Protetst Thur 18th – Sat 20th @ CCD + Trinity (see below).

Building on the FLOK Experience

A team of global peer researchers, lead by Michel Bauwens, founder and director of the P2P Foundation gathered in Ecuador this year to develop a societal transition model from patent and IP process toward a society based on the Open Source model of Free/Libre Open Knowledge (free as in freedom, not as in ‘beer’).

We hear so many people crying out on social media, and elsewhere, about the enormous issue of cruelty to animals; the lack of laws to protect them or to punish offenders etc. So now we are giving all these people a chance to take a stand and make a difference!

Please join ARAN for a lively yet peaceful demonstration outside Simon Coveney’s constituency offices in Carrigaline, Co. Cork. read full story / add a comment

30 Aug - 5 Sept

This year NATO will have their next summit at Celtic Manor Resort, in Newport, south Wales. In early September 2014, “world leaders” – all directly responsible for untold death, illegal torture flights, and wars fought purely to protect Western business interests and resource supply routes – will gather on the edge of this historic Welsh city. Many people from Newport, Cardiff, Bristol and beyond, will oppose the summit and use a diversity of tactics against it. We, an anti-capitalist, anti-militarist network in South Wales, plan to facilitate mobilisations and provide space for workshops, skill-shares and social events. We are organising without leaders as we do not agree with bosses or bombs. read full story / add a comment

Women harassed for trying to access abortion, people expelled from the cities and villages, others dragged through the courts for resistance to the plundering of the earth, immigrants deported for 'alien blood', workers attacked for union activities, and tenants activists burned in the forest. Activities of developers, employers, nationalists; often backed by the police, the prosecution and the authorities.

All of these issues will be discussed during the Festival days antywięziennych. read full story / add a comment

On Sunday 7 September, local fascist group ‘Sauvons Calais’ will once
again try to hold a demonstration ‘against immigration’ in Calais,
bringing in hardcore neo-nazis from across France. A number of
high-profile fascists have already confirmed their presence including
Thomas Joly (secrétaire général du Parti de la France), Yvan Benedetti
(conseiller municipal de Venissieux and former-member of the now banned
organization L’Œuvre française), and Richard Roudier (of Réseau
Identités). No doubt there will also be neonazi gangs that will arrive
before and stay for more time after the demo to attack vulnerable people
in the streets.
