Our previous two volunteer days in Farnaght earlier in the year had to be cancelled due to the weather so there's a lot to be done. On the day we will be planting a new hedge and checking on how our previously planted trees are doing. Farnaght was first planted over ten years ago and the birch in particular has shot up making this reserve a great place to visit to see how quickly native woodland can be established.
Bring Suitable clothing and lunch.

There are unique moments, inspired by history which offer possibilities and hope for radical transformation in the present and future. 2016 could be one such opportunity. It will be 100 years since the Easter Rising and the proclamation of the Irish Republic. It is also likely to be the year of the next General Election. We face major challenges and questions about what type of future Ireland is going to have? What values should shape Irish society in the coming decades? read full story / add a comment

Depth of investigation combined with the atmosphere of an informal meeting. More enjoyable than academic conferences - more productive than aimless small-talk.
Open communication in school:
If communication happens between members of different status groups: how does their position impinge on the communication?
How do hierarchies, formal and informal, influence communication?
How does the institutionalisation of education influence the communication that goes on in schools?
How does the professionalisation of education in schools influence communication?
How do different cultural backgrounds influence communication in schools?
What does all that mean for a concept of open communication? read full story / add a comment
