Join Chelsea (Bradley) Manning's Irish supporters along with her family and friends in west Wales for two days of events celebrating Truth. All proceeds will go to the Private Manning Family Fund, raising money to support family members in Wales with the cost of prison visits to Chelsea in Kansas.

As Chelsea’s American grandmother said "If you can’t tell the truth, then don’t bother speaking!"
Chelsea told the truth and has paid with her liberty.

To commemorate the fifth anniversary of the Israeli ‘Operation Cast Lead’ attack on Gaza, and to highlight Israeli's ongoing cruel and illegal siege of Gaza, the Ireland-Palestine Solidarity Campaign (IPSC) is calling on people to gather at 2pm at the Ha’penny Bridge, Dublin on New Year’s Eve. Please bring Palestinian flags if you have them.

Please spare an hour of your time to remember the victims of the attack and the ongoing illegal Israeli siege of Gaza, where Israeli attacks and killings are ongoing, even in the face of the man-made crisis there arising from sporadic power outages as a result of severe fuel shortages. read full story / add a comment

Public workshops on accessing your rights under the Aarhus Convention have recently been held in Cork and Galway, and tomorrow there will be a final public workshop in Dublin, in the Radisson Blu Hotel, Golden Lane, from 10 to 4. The workshop will help ordinary citizens to understand their rights and to access information on the environment. The format will involve inputs from environmental lawyers and activists with expertise in this area. The three pillars of the Convention - information, participation and justice - will be discussed as well as a detailed case study. The workshop is free but registration is required by emailing roadshow@ien.ie. read full story / add a comment

There are some events taking place in the coming weeks to try to advance the building of our movement for democracy, if you can support these it would help. In particular, we are asking people from county Cork as well as from Waterford, Tipperary and Kerry to join with us on Saturday 14th, to mark the Troika's departure on the 15th.

Note that the events are hosted by The People's Convention, everyone welcome, however no Political Party banners or promotions are welcome, we ask participants to focus on the subject matter of the events and to leave aside any promotion of personal philosophy or 'ism' - in the interests of achieving the broadest possible unity. read full story / add a comment

Dear Friends,

Just a little note to bring to your attention our exhibition “And They Tell Me" a memorial to all the women who have died through male violence from December 1995 to 2013. This is a very powerful and simple exhibition, really beautiful but also very shocking. It is only a short window in time to view this work. We invite you and your groups to come to the NCAD Gallery, Thomas Street to view it and connect with the issue of Violence Against Women.

For those who are interested we are also holding a conference to reflect on the invisible crisis. There are only 100 places for the conference so you must book, it is also free. I really hope you will get to one or the other and I hope your own work is going well.

In solidarity

Rita Fagan

Solidarity Books will be proud to host the Cork launch of the 2nd Edition of "Sins of the Father: The decisions that shaped the Irish economy" – on Thursday 5th December 7:30pm

The event will include a talk from Dr. Conor McCabe, the author of 'Sins of the Father: The decisions that shaped the Irish economy ', which analyses the development of the Irish economy throughout the 20th Century right up to the current crisis, without resorting to just pointing fingers at 'a few morally bankrupt individuals' in an otherwise sound system. read full story / add a comment
