Chris Packham has hit back at claims made on GB News that half the world's population could die under Net Zero. But that seems like a fair estimate of the catastrophic harm of deindustrialisation, says Chris Morrison.

national / politics / elections / opinion/analysis Monday December 03, 2018 20:44 by Joseph James
This article argues for the inclusion of a "None of the above" option on all ballot papers in an election. It starts by explaining the benefits of its inclusion. Then it demonstrates how its inclusion can be achieved through activism. read full story / add a comment

One would think there would be enough intelligent and discerning people within the lawyerly world of the ACLU to have paid some real attention to the actual many and damning Wikileaks (both before the election and after), as well from real progressives like the Sane Progressive Debbie Lusignan, H.A. Goodman, and equally top quality libertarian writers like Justin Raimondo (and dozens of others who have actually been trying to tell truth against the avalanche of lies coming from both the traditional left and traditional right and mainstream media). read full story / add a comment

If there were a lightening rod to energize political apathy in this heavily propagandized world democratic right of dissent, such as to challenge corrupt government practice, should be it. But certain U. S. leaders’ apparent intention to incarcerate and punish Julian Assange for leaking U.S. secrets puts our black methods in the limelight. What were his motives and equally what has been the character of U.S. foreign policy? It seems revelations were meant to highlight U.S. corruption as people around the world have come to fear American brutality. Many around the globe know the United States as a rogue bully of an empire that regularly uses intimidation to get its way. It takes a real macho government to push around countries like Ecuador, Sweden and lapdog England. As has been shown over and over the United States does not respect law, legal distinctions or diplomatic norms.

Thirty one malicious prosecutions of an innocent man, followed by perjury, cover ups, scandalous conduct by judges, barristers, solicitors, the Courts Service, the DPP's office, assaults by Gardaí etc - there was a long story to tell about the shameless legal and judicial system in Ireland outside our Houses of Parliament during the protest by Kevin Tracey, despite his illness. This story is one that could also come under the Rights and Freedom heading as well as under "Crime and Justice". Kevin Tracey has been the victim of criminal behaviour but he has also been deprived of his human rights and of freedom to live a normal life with his family in peace. Every day of the protest people ask "Why is this happening in Ireland?" read full story / add a comment

Conflict over resources has been a particularly strong feature of the last 500 years or a period regarded by some commentators as the five centuries of global capitalist expansion, begun by Christopher Columbus and followed up by the brutal conquistadors such as Hernan Cortes and Francisco Pizarro, who searched for 'Eldorado', the city of gold. Millions of indigenous Indians from the islands of the Caribbean down the spine of Central America to the mountains of Bolivia, toiled the fields and mines to serve European monarchies who, on the back of exploited labour, built ostentatious cathedrals and palaces as, according to Eduardo Galeano in 'Open Veins of Latin America', tens of millions of souls perished from this earth. read full story / add a comment

A Tale of Two Books: From France, 2 little books with big impact! One little book, "Time for Outrage" or "Indignez-vous!", believes violence is bad and not what wins out in the end. The other little book, "The Coming Insurrection", claims we must tear everything up and start all over again, because the first way hasn't worked for a long time. read full story / add a comment

It’s the time of year where we plebs get a chance to rectify our impertinence in rejecting the Lisbon Treaty. In itself, rerunning the referendum is hardly an affront to democracy. After all, people are simply being asked to confirm the decision made read full story / add a comment

There are a lot of new people entering into struggle, and radical politics, for the first time and we feel it's appropriate now to make our views known. read full story / add a comment
