The amount of money used to bail out failed banks would have ended world hunger for 50 years. This is the world presided over by G8 leaders who meet every year to co-ordinate how to continue failed policies which favour the 'have yachts' over the 'have nots'. We say 'Another World is Possible' and over five days in June our Festival of Ideas hopes to challenge and inspire those who want to fight for it. Republican Sinn Féin will be holding an Irish Anti-Imperialist Forum as a counter to the G8 Summit in June. The Anti-Imperialist Forum/Republican Alternative to the G8 will take place in Belfast on June 14 and 15. The forum will discuss all aspects of imperialism both in terms of British imperialism in Ireland as well as the new imperialism of the EU, ECB and IMF as experienced by the people of the 26 Counties. Their names are John Kerr, former British ambassador to US and deputy chairman of Shell UK, also Jeroen Van der Veer, CEO Netherlands. Also present at this meeting were Irishman Dermot Gleeson who is or has been involved with Independent News Media, has recently resigned as Chairman of AIB and is chairman of UCC governing body since 2007 and another Irishman Peter Sutherland who is worth looking at on Wikipedia as someone who has his fingers in a lot of pies.
