It seems to me that we have well and truly returned to the days of Michael Davitt and the Land League. Where huge numbers of people are being bled dry by a small group of Landlords. And what do these latterday Landlords do with their ill gotten gains? Like the Landlords of old, they take the money out of the country. The Landlord class in Ireland have bought overseas land and buildings to the sum of 1.2 trillion euro - that right 1200 billion euro. read full story / add a comment

Have they seen the brutalisation of protestors instigated by the quango that comprises
the NRA?

The EU , this morning answered a tabled question regarding the ongoing works at
tara, the EU believes those works are stopped.
Protestors have been criminalised and brutalised as a result of a media driven government
campaign to isolate them, in the belief that ordinary commuters think they need the toll road. read full story / add a comment

Have heard from two reliable sources that Squeek has left the tunnel at Rath Lugh. She left with Gardai and some of her family present. The Gardai have taken her away from the site as far as I am aware.

Here's hoping for 100 to take her place. tara is THE symbol of dead-end corruption and anti-democratic government in Ireland. The dictatorship of the developers. Pitting people against each other.

Well done Squeek. Takes a lot of nerve. read full story / add a comment

PRESS RELEASE

For Release 14/3/2008

THE Cabinet has been sitting on a sustainable and practical solution to the problems posed by the construction of the M3 motorway since last September and has neither examined nor done anything to implement it despite overwhelmingly positive feedback, a co-author of the Meath MASTER Plan, independent transport researcher Brian Guckian, said today.

Alternative uses for tara tunnel system (if the NRA give up on destroying the tara valley) :

Bertie Ahern could stash mooney in the tunnels for a while, until he gets his bank accounts sorted. Dermot Ahern could be looking up the trees.

Storage of E-voting machines

Carbon Capture

Place for the Labour Party to dump the weapons they inherited from the Workers Party

Westlife CD's could be buried in the tunnels

Paintballing dungeons and dragons style

Underground electricity cables

natural gas pipeline

Westlife could be buried there

(that's enough uses for tara tunnels- Ed)

There are fences across the proposed route each side of the Rath Lugh woods. At around 8am this morning a member of the Rath Lugh camp heard machinery passing by the rath. 6 of us went out and saw 2 dump trucks and 2 diggers outside the fence, coming from the Baronstown direction. Each digger was 40 tonnes, and wanted to drive though at the same time! A large crowd of SIAC, Ferrovial and Wills Bros workers were present, 2 members of the Garda Siochana were also present, both in incomplete uniforms; they didn't wear hats, one of them wasn't displaying his ID number on his shoulder. We explained no machinery would be passing by Rath Lugh, that the area is preserved and it is a criminal offence to interfere with or damage a national monument. The weight and vibrations of the machinery will affect the monument on the esker, and so endanger all of Rath Lugh. The workers took absolutely no heed of anything we told them. read full story / add a comment
