The case can only be described as an attempt by British securocrats to put the Good Friday Agreement on trial through the Diplock Courts. Former Loyalist combatants have given evidence to this effect exposing the case as anti-peace process. They stated that the British government through Mo Mowlam gave a verbal guarantee on a number of occasions that no republican or loyalist would face legal proceedings for offences pre 1998.

Book Launch & Street Art Events - Cork Saturday 16th October

London-based photo-journalist William Parry will be in Ireland to launch his new book about Resistance Art in Palestine. The book, Against the Wall – The Art of Resistance in Palestine, is a stunning collection of photographs that capture the graffiti and art which have transformed Israel's wall into a living canvas of resistance and solidarity. Featuring the work of artists including Banksy, Ron English, Blu and others, as well as Palestinian artists and activists, these photos express outrage, compassion, and touching humour. They illustrate the wall's toll on lives and livelihoods, showing the hardship it has brought to tens of thousands of people, preventing their access to work, education and vital medical care. Mixed with the photos are portraits and vignettes, offering a heartfelt and inspiring account of a people determined to uphold their dignity in the face of profound injustice. read full story / add a comment

Butler House, 16 Patrick Street, Kilkenny
Friday 15th October at 7.30 p.m.

Ireland Institute, 27 Pearse Street, Dublin
Saturday 16th October at 3.00 p.m.

Farmer, economist, development theorist, historian, and political activist, Raymond Crotty (1925-94) was one of the most original thinkers to come out of modern Ireland.

He made history with his successful constitutional action in 1987 against the Government's attempt to ratify the EU's Single European Act Treaty by simple Dail majority vote instead of by popular referendum.

Holding strong radical views, his advocacy of a land tax as a means of putting pressure on Irish landowners to use their land more productively pitted him against powerful vested interests. read full story / add a comment
