5.00 pm SATURDAY 12 FEBRUARY 2005 raytheon, Branch Road, Derry FEIC first dug its memorial grave dedicated to the people of Fallujah on Friday 19 November. Since then the grave has been desecrated and reinstated dozens of times. Despite raytheon’s attempts to erase this memorial, we continue at this site of struggle to remember the nameless and numberless dead murdered with raytheon’s product in Iraq. This Saturday, we will dig the grave again. It is worth reflecting on the words of one US Army soldier in Fallujah, -- Lieutenant Colonel Brennan Byrne, commander of 1st Battalion of the 5th Marine Regiment. Interviewed by Robert D. Kaplan, The Atlantic Monthly (published in July/August 2004 as Five Days in Fallujah), he said: "The bad guys only have what God gave them; we have what raytheon gave us." Please bring flowers, candles and white ribbons. read full story / add a comment ![]()

![]() ![]() On Friday 19 November and again on Friday Dec 10th and Fri 24th Dec, FEIC carried out the digging of a symbolic grave at raytheon, Derry. During the protest, large numbers of white ribbons and flowers were tied to the railings which run along the perimeter of the raytheon plant. A large stone marker, with the words, 'Fallujah 2004' was left to mark the grave. Flowers and candles were left in an act of solidarity with the people of Fallujah. Within two days, every single ribbon, flower and candle had been removed. The grave marker was taken away half a dozen times and was eventually broken in two. The grave continues to be removed and descrated every time it is dug. Despite this, FEIC continue the protest. It's clear that raytheon in Derry are unnerved by the protest and threatened by white ribbons, flowers and candles. The people who make Tomahawk Cruise m read full story / add a comment

STATE OF PLAY - Well it 's 18 months since we managed to disable a U.S. Navy war plane at Shannon Airport. The plane was the only piece of military equipment turned around by the international peace movement and sent back to Texas. Meanwhile we were sent to Limerick prison. Initially denied any bail at all, we eventually had very restrictive bail conditions imposed - a ban from County Clare, a ban from a mile radius of the U.S. Embassy & signing on at a specific Garda Station daily. read full story / add a comment
