The British National Party is urging its members to drop anti-semitism in favour of Islamophobia in order to win votes ahead of May’s assembly elections in London . Its leader ,Nick Griffin ,has written in favour of “adopting an 'Islamophobic' position that appeals to large numbers of ordinary people”. Targeting Zionist voters and former supporters of the ,now largely defunct , UK Independence Party , the BNP expects to pick up the necessary votes to win at least one seat in the election . In 1971, Boal was arrested, tortured, and eventually exiled to Argentina, where he published his first book "Theatre of the Oppressed" in 1973, later fleeing to Europe." Hunger Strike Update- Gordon McNeill Taken to City Hospital
Hunger striker Gordon McNeill has been rushed to City Hospital for treatment. An ambulance was called to the scene at Transport House due to a deterioration in his condition. Gordon is on his fourth day without food and his second day without water. Also on hunger strike are Madan Gupta and Chris Bowyer. The former airport shop stewards have taken the action to demand talks with the leadership of Unite/TGWU, who have refused to meet with the workers. Here is a statement from the Iraq Freedom Congress on the fifth anniversary of the imperialist occupation of Iraq. The IFC wants to expel the US and its allied forces and dissolve all political, economic, military and paramilitary institutions set up by the US. It also wants to dissolve and disarm all armed and paramilitary groups linked to Islamic forces and lawless groups and confiscate all their weapons, resources and funds. The IFC stands for a Secular Democratic Iraq. The 9th of April marks the fifth anniversary of the occupation. It is the anniversary of the genocide in which more than one million lives were lost and 4 million others were made homeless inside and ouside of Iraq. A New Yorker who was a witness at the scene of the World Trade Centre bombing in 1993 has filed documentation in the Supreme Court that the Ministry for Justice here suppressed evidence in her claim for asylum. She is requesting that activists, members of the public or people interested in immigration/asylum issues come to her Supreme Court appeal on Friday April 11, at 11 am at the Four Courts, Dublin (I assume). read full story / add a comment ![]()

Ludu Daw Amar has died . Her name means 'Of the people', she was a publisher who published a pro-independence Political Journal entitled the Ludu Daily news in the 1940s. The journal was suppressed eventually by government censors, but she continued to criticise the Burma/Myanmar Junta until near her death. Aung San Suu Kyi had flowers laid at her graveside- in Memoriam. Ludo published on Women's Issues and culture. The Ludu Press became an ethical symbol for the people of Burma/Myanmar. read full story / add a comment

The Action on Suicide alliance has arranged for a Remembrance Procession which will be held in Dublin on Wed April 23rd. The Procession is for bereaved families, friends, communities and associated groups, organisations and individuals that havelost loved ones and friends through suicide. The Procession will commence at 1pm at the Garden of Remembrance Parnell Square and proceed through Dublin City Centre to arrive at the Dail at 2pm where the Mandate will again be handed into Government.
