Choice Ireland believes that vulnerable women in crisis pregnancies deserve help and support in coming to terms with the difficult choices they face in their situation – not the lies, bullying, and manipulation of the WRC. For this reason we are campaigning to have this rogue agency shut down and as part of this campaign we will be maintaining a presence outside it every Saturday this month of July. This Saturday we continue our protest outside the WRC. This protest raises awareness about the WRC's activities and prevents them from traumatising more women for as long as we are there. Choice Ireland is preparing for an oireachtas committee meeting to have rogues agencies like this regulated and we will be collecting signatures for a petition to support this. We hope that you can offer us your support and help spread the word about what is going on. If you can't make it this Saturday then come along to our big demo on Saturday the 26th of July. read full story / add a comment

Demo at the Austrian National Tourist Office Merrion Center, Nutley Lane, Dublin4 01-2830488 01-2830531 Second Irish support Demo on TUESDAY 22nd July 2008 1-2pm. ADDRESS ABOVE……….. Scandal of Justice Continues: New Extension of Remand in Custody for Austrian Animal Protectionists Because the suspects refused to renounce animal protection, their remand in custody was extended on the grounds that there remains the risk they will perpetrate criminal offences! The District Court of Wiener Neustadt extended the remand in custody of the ten animal protectionists for a further two months today. Even after inspection of the numerous computers and photos that have been confiscated, not one single substantiating charge has been added and many of the existing charges that made the strong impression of having been fabricated have already been dropped by the Chief Public Prosecutor. Nevertheless, the authorities insist on further remanding the animal protectionists in custody. read full story / add a comment

international / anti-capitalism / news report Tuesday July 15, 2008 03:03 by shortciper
15 members of the police officers, prison guards and doctors were found guilty of brutality, including physical and mentally torturing at the G8 summit in Genoa in 2001 and sentenced to between five months' and five years' imprisonment. The charges include abuse, fraud, criminal coercion and inhuman and degrading treatment. One demonstrator was shot dead by police and hundreds more injured at the summit in the city of Genoa that was hosted by Italian premier Silvio Berlusconi. The heaviest sentence of five years was given to an inspector in the penitentiary police department. All those convicted are expected to appeal and none will go to prison until the appeals process is complete, which normally takes years. The lengthy trial proceedings and the statute of limitations mean that none of the defendants will serve any time, but the verdict paves the way for a major compensation claim. read full story / add a comment
