The Irish Times reports today that on November 9th, a one-year-old Clydesdale called Claddagh King Bruce will be flown from Dublin to Frankfurt and on to Delhi. It is thought that Claddagh King Bruce will be used for breeding purposes for the horse racing industry and not directly for slaughter read full story / add a comment

An AIMSI letter to Minister Harney and the HSE, dated October 15, 2008, calling for a national independent review of consent related practices in Ireland was the focus of an article in the Daily Mail on Sunday, October 26, 2008. Yesterday saw hundreds participate in nonviolent direct action to shut down Adermaston - Britain's nuclear weapons factory. Friends from London, Oxford, Farmhouse Catholic Workers and Trident Ploughshares joined hundreds of others in an attempt to nonviolently shut down Aldermaston. We will try to incorporate solidaritywith this direct action into this week's GPO anti-war vigil Background on Monday's Aldermaston blockade see http://blockawe.blogspot.com and http://www.tridentploughshares.org US/UK went to war in Iraq to dismantle WMD...meanwhile Aldermaston continues to produce WMD. The Irish Republican Youth Movement, Ógra Shinn Féin, are set to join the march and rally in Belfast this weekend in opposition to the British MOD’s parade for the notorious UDR/RIR regiment of the British Army. Demonstrators from across Ireland will join in solidarity with the relatives of victims of British State Murder and Collusion at Bank Square, 10.45am this Sunday 2 November. There will be a number of speakers including Mark Thompson of Relatives For Justice and Martina Anderson for Sinn Féin, before marching to Royal Avenue for a dignified and peaceful protest. read full story / add a comment

Anyone really believe that conditions are 'improving' in Iraq? The US and the UK appear to be growing weary of the expense and difficulty of war and noises off from the msm are that the job is done and other fatuous nonsense of that sort. The IPSC is holding a picket and rally at the British Embassy (followed by a public meeting in the Mount Herbert Hotel) in Ballsbridge on the 1st Novemeber.
