On Morning Ireland this morning (16 July 2009) Cathal MacCoille asks Tom Geraghty of the Public Service Executive Union about some CSO statistics. Geraghty explains that they are bogus for the purpose MacCoile is using them - trying to argue that public sector workers get paid more than private sector workers. Geraghty also explains that the CSO recognise that fact. But MacCoille keeps asking the same question, oblivious of the fact that Geraghty keeps answering it.

For once a dense RTE bore gets his answer - listen and laugh (there are few of them about these days). read full story / add a comment

How low can they go?

Well the lowest I've found is a cutback of €2.6 million in funding to local groups which are fighting against the ravages of drug addiction. Just what you would expect from a smug upper middle class toadie of the ruling class like Colm McCarthy.

Colm McCarthy has declared War on the ordinary people of Ireland. The only suitable response is to declare War right back on him and his masters. read full story / add a comment

Here Joe Higgins, the Socialist Party MEP for Dublin, talks about the recent electricians´ strike, the disgusting attacks on it by the bosses and media, and how we can all learn from their suyccess of the electricians.

You would think from reading some newspaper articles and editorials that workers go on strike to deliberately wreak havoc on whichever sector they work in, or on society in general.

Take the 10,500 strong electricians strike last week. "Strike flies in the face of reason" pompously declared an editorial in a daily newspaper. An economic commentator went one better, calling the strike "insane and delusional". Former Minister of State and current Chief Executive of the Construction Industry Federation, Tom Parlon outshouted them all when he said that "we cannot let the lunatics be in charge." read full story / add a comment
