A video made by an Irish couple who were returning home from abroad and were forced to book and pay upfront for one of the prison like quarantine hotels has gone viral outside of the mainstream news.
They were told when they were trying to get back to Ireland they would not be allowed board the flight unless they had booked into one of the quarantine hotels. In this instance it was the Red Cow Inn, just off the Naas Road near the M50 Red Cow Inn interchange.
The conditions are appalling and and many people are suicidal in them and they are a major untold scandal. It turns out that they discovered that neither the hotel staff nor the government had the authority to keep them there even though most people forced to stay in them are NOT made aware of this fact.
They therefore decided to leave and filmed the ordeal. They were clearly badly shaken by the whole episode read full story / add a comment

Quoting the TD’s personal assistant, “there will be a vote with no speaking time or debate whatsoever. If you blink you’ll miss it”.read full story / add a comment

Ireland's position on bee mortality permitted by pesticides questioned.
Failure to give Ireland’s EU position on pesticides a ‘democratic deficit’.
Six environmental groups have written an ‘Open Letter’ to four Ministers seeking Ireland’s position on the limits of mortalities permitted through the use of pesticides.
The groups are seeking Ireland's position on pesticides in last March’s meeting of the EU’s Standing Committee on Plant, Animal, Food and Feed and what position the State plans to take at the forthcoming meeting in June.
According to the letter to Ministers Ryan, Hackett, Heydon, and McConalogue, a majority of the Member States now favour at least doubling the 5% permitted threshold of mortalities after pesticide treatments (which can be repeated through the growing season) with some member states proposing to allow as much as 25% of a colony to be destroyed under the revised ‘Bee Guidance Document’. read full story / add a comment

Man who filmed Garda disrupting mass in Athlone finds Garda at end of his bed at 3:30am and his kids taken away

On Saturday night at 3:30am the man, Pat Sweeney, who filmed Garda breaking up a mass in a church in Athlone just one week ago, was woken by Garda at the end of his bed to find they were taking him to Longford Garda station there and then because they were "concerned" about his health. It turns out they were using powers under the Mental Health Act to imply he was not well and that his kids were somehow at risk. In the video / audio of the event, you can hear the Garda say in response to his question -"where are my kids" -that they are being taken into care by TUSLA who have farmed them out to someone else.
This is a new low for the government and represents a scandalous abuse of power to target a man who happened to expose their evil and criminal ways the previous week. Thankfully the video of this event has gone viral but not anywhere on mainstream media.

High Court quashes last 8 of Bord na Mona’s ‘ghost’ planning applications
Lack of public consultation leads to quashing of 10 An Bord Pleanala consents
The High Court has quashed decisions of An Bord Pleanala to grant leave to apply for substitute consent, in respect of a number of peat extraction and quarry applications. The two-step, ‘substitute consent’ system, by which developers had to make ‘threshold’ applications to regularise previous unauthorised activities before applying for planning permission, was found not to comply with the EIA Directive by the Supreme Court in July 2020 in cases brought by An Taisce, the National Trust, and Peter Sweetman in relation to a quarry in County Kildare. read full story / add a comment
