She goes there in honour after four friends testified on her behalf. In the past week an unprecedented amount of community support has been shown to the squatters of a NAMA property in Grangegorman, Dublin 7. The 6th year class from the Educate Together primary school which shares a wall with the squatters spent their yard break creating a 'Save Our Squatters' petition which the entire class signed. read full story / add a comment

A massive eviction is underway in Dublin. It is at the complex of occupied houses and former factory spaces in Grangegorman.
Reports indicate that at 7am in the morning a very large number of private security angle grinder their way through one of the metal gates, invaded the area en massed and are erecting barriers (pictured) inside and trying to evict the occupants.

This Morning at 6.30am we were woken from our beds.Private security working for NAMA were breaking into our homes. We live in a flourishing squatted community in Grangegorman.This space which was once disused warehouses filled with rubble, asbestos and broken glass has been turned into an inspiring and beautiful place to be.The place is coved with artwork, and the community garden has begun to blossom.We have a circus space, poetry nights, folk gigs, Art Exhibitions, Fairs and a community Kitchen. read full story / add a comment

There can be no question of repeating the events of 2009, when the eviction of the Afghan jungle resulted in the arrest of hundreds of migrants, their detainment all over France and attempts to deport them to Afghanistan. In the week of the 3rd to the 7th of March four houses were squatted in Calais. One of these has already been evicted once and reoccupied. The remaining three are legally secure (in France exists a law which stipulates that houses which have been squatted for more than 48 hours cannot be evicted without a legal procedure) but despite this remain as before under threat. In the past in Calais there have been countless illegal evictions by police, predominately those of living quarters of refugees. Many of the initial squatters have now traveled further on and so there is the need for support from activists who can secure these future safe spaces, document police violence as well as any eviction attempts and help make the houses livable. The current situation is a key moment in the story of squats in Calais. It is the first time that there is the possibility to keep many houses at the same time --- a chance which we shouldn't pass up! It will pay off in the future to fight for these houses and the struggle begins now! We have lots of room for creativity and the energy of people who want to support us in this struggle! read full story / add a comment

Irish greyhounds and dogs of all breeds with their owners will be meeting in Dublin City Centre on Sunday June 19th for the first “Walk for the Greyhounds”, which has been organised to promote greyhounds as family pets. Hundreds of two legged and four legged walkers are expected from all over Ireland, the UK, and other European countries. Walkers will meet at 12 noon, near the Fusilliers Arch at St Stehen’s Green.
