So far Ireland has been the only one of the 27 EU-states to demonstrate an independent court decision in favour of democracy and the rule of law [1, 2]. In the new situation brought about by the EU-leaders’ rejection of Ireland’s decision [3, 4, 5], Ireland is again tested as the last fortress of democracy within the EU. This test is on whether the official decision on Lisbon arrived at on June 12, 2008 would enter into force, or the constitutional foundations of Ireland, similarly to the other 26 states, would be bent or circumvented to serve the interests of foreign political forces [2]? The questions and the proposition of this article are meant to provide a starting point for further legal considerations, building on the assumption that an independent court still exists to protect the constitution, the rule of law and democracy in Ireland. read full story / add a comment

How much legitimacy can Mr. Sarkozy assume in a non-existent role called ‘EU President’, under the current conditions, when the Lisbon Treaty meant to create such presidency has already been legally rejected, and the overall implementation process should have been revoked by now [1, 2]? How much legitimacy can be assumed for a politician who openly contradicted the decision of his own electorate [3, 4, 5] in order to seize power over the rest of the half billion who have never been and never will be his electorate [6]? How much credibility can be granted to a ‘president’ who helped organising the scheme [5] to suppress the opinion of the rest of Europe thus prevented the democratic constitutionalisation process in the region he is supposedly the ‘president’ of? read full story / add a comment

Would Mr. Cowen continue to represent the European Commission and the Council against his own people? Or would he finally start acting according to his constitutional obligation to his country and demand that the EU should unconditionally respect the decision of Ireland and immediately stop the ratification of the rejected treaty? Have the pro-Lisbon leaders considered that living under a dictatorial regime creates such a high uncertainty that first affects the rulers, due to the unpredictability and uncontrollability of the individual ambitions within an uncontrollable regime? Have they considered the possibility that the one-dimensional knowledge of their lawyers launching an operation with tricks and paragraphs against the nations of Europe may have been insufficient to assess the feasibility of the overall plan? Ireland has rejected the Lisbon Treaty with a decisive majority and very high turnout, period. Yet, the Commission and the European Council declared the dead Lisbon Treaty still ‘alive’. The fallacious premise the EU has chosen as a basis for continuing to justify the unjustifiable course of Lisbon: “the Treaty has been ratified by 18 states”. The factual premise however is this: 1) The Lisbon Treaty has been rejected by Ireland; 2) The Lisbon Treaty, in its earlier form as the ‘EU Constitution’ [1], had already been rejected by France and Netherlands long before the said 18 countries started to ratify it under a new name. For many of the NO voters one of the main reasons to reject the Lisbon Treaty has been the fact that the Lisbon Treaty is already a dead treaty to begin with. If the EU insists that Europe’s ‘problems’ can be solved only without the agreement of its 500 million voters and only with a version of Lisbon Treaty - that is the real problem of Europe. read full story / add a comment

In the former parts of this study it has been demonstrated that the pro-Lisbon European political class has transformed the system considered “parliamentary democracy” into constitutional dictatorship. The parliamentary offices of the elected have become ineffective as democratic institutions and are maintained for a purpose opposite of democracies: to serve the interests of a small political oligarchy. In this part we examine how a "yes" vote on the Lisbon Treaty and the consequent loss of national sovereignty would determine our future. Denying the loss of national sovereignty as the main implication of ratifying a treaty that is “to provide the legal basis for consolidating and further developing the Union’s action in the field of economic, social and territorial cohesion” is merely a dishonest act of arbitrarily omitting the appropriate dictionary definition of a given concept. read full story / add a comment

The transformation of democratic rule of law into a law to support an EU-federalist oligarchy is however far from getting the whole picture of Europe’s current and projected political system. In this part we compare the main features of the political system of Ireland known as “parliamentary democracy” with the basic criteria of democracy identified by experts of political theory [11] by reconciling two complementary widely accepted democracy-indexes: of Polity and Freedom House. After matching the observations of the system in Ireland with the two essential features of parliamentary democracy, which fill the word “democracy” with its actual meaning - meaningful elections and political freedom -, we find that these are converging to a zero value in Ireland under the overwhelming pressure of Lisbon. One of the main conclusions of our former publication [1] have been that the referendum on the Lisbon Treaty is in effect new elections in Ireland. The issue of the Lisbon referendum is of even higher relevance than parliamentary elections, because the decision on ratifying the Lisbon Treaty is not merely to elect temporary representatives into the next term of the government and the parliament, but - upon transferring the current powers of the nation state of Ireland to the federal state in Brussels – it is a decision on accepting or rejecting the permanent construction of a new federal government and parliament. Without publicising this fact the ongoing government campaign to promote a ‘yes’ vote on the referendum amounts to the deprivation of the voters of their most fundamental democratic right to meaningful elections. The present study offers further evidence for the above statements by revealing the general erosion of democracy in the countries targeted by the Lisbon process. read full story / add a comment

The propaganda recently launched by the government in support of the new federal EU constitution nicknamed as “Lisbon Treaty”, has failed to actually attach the text of the Treaty to their claims on the treaty. The voters of Ireland will be called to submit their votes on an international treaty that is not available for them as of today, less than a month before the referendum. By not providing information on this fact, the current government campaigns to promote a yes vote on the referendum, amounts to the deprivation of the Irish voters of their most fundamental constitutional-democratic right to fair and free elections. The purpose of the Lisbon Treaty research is to offer the voters of Ireland objective arguments on the Lisbon Treaty, with facts and evidence with substance, and an objective discussion of the legal, political, economical and social considerations of the Treaty. The purpose of this article (see below the video) is to provide further support to the statement upheld by politicians, academic and legal experts that the Lisbon Treaty is a constitution. The emphasis on this fact is vital because from this fact it follows that the Lisbon Treaty needs referendum not only in Ireland but in all of the 27 EU member states. Because the Lisbon Treaty a constitution, it is crucial to understand that no constitution ever permits the act of overthrowing it, i.e never allows the act of replacing it with another one without the permission of a country's citizens. Therefore the ratification of the Lisbon Treaty without referendums in the other 26 states, is a dictatorial power-grab over Europe. (Please see the document referred at the end of the article.) With this article we wish to call Ireland to Vote NO to Lisbon Treaty!
