The Alliance for Animal Rights is pleased to learn that Circus Sydney have retired the Ailing African Elephant Max to a safari style Park in Germany. This Elephant has been the subject of controversy since he started touring this season. He was one of two elephants at Circus Sydney that animal Rights Campaigners reported to Gardai over the last few months as in need of urgent medical attention for a hind leg injury . read full story / add a comment

Members of the Association of Hunt Saboteurs placed a peaceful picket on the Louth Foxhounds hunt ball held at the Four Season’s Hotel, Ballsbridge, Dublin on Saturday night last. Over thirty members and supporters of the AOHS staged a two- hour protest at the entrance to the hotel. Security was tight at the hotel but Gardai reported a trouble free event. Those attending the hunt ball had to pass protestors holding banners and posters calling for a ban on foxhunting and all forms of hunting with dogs. read full story / add a comment

Israeli violence against the people of Lebanon and Palestine has continued unabated today. This afternoon, Anti-War Ireland issued the following statement calling for an extension of Irish solidarity with those suffering in this conflict. In two seperate incidents this evening, members of Circus SYDNEY(a Courtney Circus / previously Circus OZZ and Circus NEW YORK) assaulted different activists both inside and outside the circus. The first incident happened when some activists from The Alliance for Animal Rights were giving out flyers on the footpath outside the Circus now in Blackrock. A circus member attempted to get one by the neck and take their leaflets. The second incident happened when four people including two minors and a wild animal expert attended the actual show. A female was set upon by a circus member and had her digital camera snatched and batteries removed. She had to attend St Vincents Hospital for treatment for a possible joint fracture in her hand, she was also verbally threatened. Activists called for Gardai assistance.
