Today we are witnessing the ordinary people of Iran finally having had enough with the Ayatollahs and the Guardian Council. It is our duty if we value freedom and democracy to support them. I call on all who support and sympathise with them to make their voice heard and protest at the Iranian Embassy all this weekend. An Injunction has been granted by the High Court to prevent the Labour Court from varying the Registered Employment Agreement that is in force in the Electrical Contracting Industry until such time as its validity is proven. NECI claims the agreement is not valid as employer parties to the agreement represent only an estimated 10% of the employers in the industry. The proposed increase will cost each employer employing an electrician for 39 hour week, €71,062.24 per year .This includes Pension, PAYE/PRSI,Holiday pay. This cost does not include safety training, safety equipment or safety clothing being provided. read full story / add a comment

The new National Electrical Contractors Ireland (NECI) have been shocked by the level of company's who are operating in the industry and know little or nothing about the Registered Employment Agreement. This in fact is seen by NECI as one of the major failings in the original agreement. At a National Meeting in Athlone Advice was also given on the best way to deal with EPACE at the moment. read full story / add a comment

We cry out for a church that speaks without fear of consequences, including loss of revenues. We understand that we live in a time of great fear and peril. We need to remind ourselves that we are not to fear those that can kill the body, but instead to fear those that can kill the soul. Our domestic and foreign policies have left us a nation without a soul. We call on our Church to be a prophetic voice, a sanctuary, and a source of encouragement to those who want to work together in community towards peace and justice. read full story / add a comment
