Foreignpolicy.ie has learnt that only a limited amount of EU legal instruments will be translated into Irish despite the fanfare of Irish becoming an “official” EU language.

A spokesperson for the Council has confirmed to us that regulation number 920/2005 only covers regulations adopted by co-decision. This means that laws adopted outside of co-decision will not be translated and importantly directives (one of the main sources of EU law), resolutions and decisions will not be translated.. read full story / add a comment

The visit to Dublin on February 5 of a member of the British royal family, Andrew Windsor, can only be viewed as part of the normalisation of British rule in Ireland. Staged events such as this are used to support the pretence that British rule in Ireland is now accepted by the Irish people.

We the undersigned note call on the Department of Arts, Sport and Tourism and the Department of Transport to invest in facilities to encourage the pursuit of cycling in Ireland.

It is now 20 years since Stephen Roche won the Tour de France and in that time car dependency has been encouraged at the expense of cycling. More teenagers drive to school than cycle.

To encourage cycling in Ireland, we call for more cycle lanes, cycle tracks to encourage cycling at all ages and a national velodrome with a cycling academy to find a new generation of world class cyclists in Ireland.
We need your support!

On Friday 26th, Ógra Shinn Féin sent a delegation across to London to take part in the 8th Annual Inter-Isles Forum.

This years Forum theme was on Faith and State. Ógra’s discussion document, which proposed the complete separation between Faith and State, was the view shared by a majority of the other parties present.

Although the theme of the weekend was on Faith and State, there was a wide range of discussion outside of the main events. Topics ranging from alternate fuel sources, to the break up of the Union and everything in between were brought up at different points.
