A very timely and useful analysis of how Sinn Fein policy has moved significantly to the right in relation to the EU has appeared in the current edition of the Socialist Voice. It looks at how the party is now heading towards the right on the EU and that drift to the right is not an accident and will not end there. A former chief of the Corrib Gas Project proclaimed that “Corrib will pay no tax” owing to the billions already spent on the decade late project. The Peoples movement calls for its supperters to vote for and to help 4 independent councillors to be elected in Dublin, Sligo, Donygal and Galway. Gerry Adams made a big contribution to politics with his statement on the EU and IMF and has shown the way out of the mess that the political establishment and their EU and IMF overlords have saddled the Irish People with for the next 20 to 50 years. Only IFUT and TUI proposed doing anything about Public Sector Pension Cuts. INTO and INMO mentioned the cuts in statements. There was no mention of the cuts on Websites of the following bodies: ICTU, SIPTU, ASTI, CPSU, PSEU, IMPACT. Union responses are pasted below. While INTO, ASTI, TUI are running a campaign against the pension rip-off of new public servants announced in the Budget, there is no mention of this issue by the silent unions above. It is believed that ICTU has refused to oppose the new “pension Scheme” which is in effect a tax because the individual gets less out than was contributed (Trident Report to Teaching Unions). There is no proposal by any union to do anything about the pay cut for new entrants. Capitalism is in never ending conflict with the working class and with its capitalist rivals. This is the objective reality and why it has to have secret diplomacy. I just happen to work very near the Department of Finance and so I was a first hand witness to how events unfolded on November 3rd during the Students’ Protest. As Usual, Not much publicity at all on the MSM about this date..Obviously a date and a sentiment the establishment would like us to forget, but in light of the recent austerity measures both here and in Britain and the rise of the conservatives again as a force to be reckoned with in British politics, Here at indy, we think this event needs to be remembered. It may come as a surprise to union members but the government and the trade union general secretaries have now revealed that further pay cuts are in fact provided for under the provisions of the Croke Park agreement. The Irish Independent of 23rd October reported that the department of finance "is strongly considering reducing wage levels for all new recruits to the public sector by a flat 10pc in the Budget". Artficialy Flouridating water a peoples supply was first propsed in the Soviet gulags as way to induce a docile state and eventually kill of the prisoners it was then usedin Nazi concentration camps. Its effects are extremly damaging and it is considered a medince under EU law. Therefore the Irish government is practicing medicine without a license and without the consent of the Irish people at their expenense ! Working class people throughout Ireland are suffering deep anxiety. With poverty, homelessness and unemployment escalating, the feeling is that we are on the edge of a phenomenal disaster. That sense of dread has been exploited by a government bent on even more savage attacks on public spending. We had been told previously that we were facing €3 billion in cuts this December. Now it is certain to be much more. A new four year economic plan is to be imposed aimed at reducing the economic deficit to 3% by 2014. So there could be up to €7 billion in cuts this December, with more to follow. This will mean increases in taxes, in particular the introduction of taxes on the low-paid. It will also mean unprecedented attacks on health-care, social welfare, child benefit, pensions, education and just about every area of social provision. ... read full story / add a comment

In 1973 the democratically elected Allende government which was trying to improve conditions for the Chilean workers and peasants was overthrown by a US backed dictatorship. The thug Pinochet was put in power. It slaughtered tens of thousands of workers and peasants. Pinera the President of Chile we see with his phony grin and his brother were backers of the dictatorship. Among the taxation proposals being mooted by government for the next and subsequent budgets is an extension of tax to the lower paid. This is to be accompanied by continued draconian reductions in the provision of health, education and other services required by the population generally and particularly by the poor.
