Ógra Shinn Féin call on public to boycott Israeli goods

category tyrone | anti-war / imperialism | news report author Friday January 16, 2009 21:52author by Free Palestine - Ógra Shinn Féinauthor email osfnational at yahoo dot ie Report this post to the editors

Ógra Shinn Féin in Strabane have called on people of conscience in the local community to boycott Israeli goods and companies, in protest at Israel’s murderous onslaught on the people of Gaza.

The youth movement has said that this is a practical action in which people who feel disgusted at Israeli terror can take to support the beleaguered people of the Gaza strip.

Calling on the people of Strabane to support the Palestinians in their time of strife, Chairperson of the Tobias Molloy cumann Ógra Shinn Féin Seán Mac Giolla Easpaig said;

“As people grow even more angry at Israel’s actions in Gaza, it must be stressed that the average person on the ground is not completely helpless in all of this.”

“Israeli companies operate in Ireland and Israeli goods are on sale in local shops. We call on people of conscience in Strabane to join the international boycott of Israeli goods. Goods produced in Israel bear a unique barcode starting with the digits 729. We would ask people to check their weekly shopping and refuse to purchase products carrying this barcode in protest against Israel’s murderous assault on the Palestinian people”

“Israel’s leaders will carry on their attacks with impunity if there is no economic cost to their acts of genocide. A small trade dependant nation like Israel is very vulnerable to a boycott campaign, and if enough people take part in this international action it will have a realistic chance of success. Information on what companies to boycott can be found on the following website address, www.inminds.co.uk.”

Fair play, and I dont want to undermine your strategic ability but do you not think we should do a collective boycott.

It could possibly look, from some perspectives, like a political stunt or an opportunistic stunt. We should all be working closely together and with the IPSC. It should be organised nationally.

and are fussy about who does the boycotting it won't work.

Well done the Ogras. Maybe some of your southern members might sign the call for the ambassador here to be given his notice.

Pull together to do what we can to end the violence - boycott Israeli goods, & let Israel's Gov't know of our concerns that their murderous policies can't bring peace. Claiming to be the innocent victims in order to excuse one's own crimes won't wash for any people. Support all the genuine peacemakers, however small their voice.

"Claiming to be the innocent victims in order to excuse one's own crimes won't wash for any people"

Palestinians are rocketing Israeli civilians and if Israel opened their borders the Palestinians would be crossing into Israel and killing more Israelis.

The Israelis are collectively punishing the Palestinians in response.

Both sides are equally responsible and if Israeli products should be boycotted, then so should Palestinian goods.

These evil Jewish and Muslim people should both be internationally isolated.

To hell with them all.

C'mon! The Palestinians are prisoners.
When the moderates in Palestine done everything they could, Israel did nothing and the support of Hamas grew. Its Israels fault there is a ''crisis'', or as realistic people would call it, a horrific act of international defiance, war crimes against humanity AGAIN, mass slaughter and a desperate humanitarian crisis. in Gaza.
Although I would equally condemn firing into civilians areas.... both sides are not exactly equal in blame.

In fact, its almost an insult to my intelligence to suggest they are equal in blame. Read the history of Zionist Israel and their military and economic might, and the force they use... Look at history, read 'Robert Fisk'.

Also, why hate Jews and Muslims... If you meet a Chinese man you dont like, do you hate all Chinese people? What about an African woman you dont like? What about a gay person? generalisation. We are all humans and deserve the right to live in equality and 'freedom'.

Israel feels the boot of International opinion - Throw your shoes at Israel.

http://www.imemc.org/article/58788

A shoe was thrown at Israel’s ambassador to Sweden, Mr. Benny Dagan, when he was giving a speech at Stockholm University on Thursday . It was followed by two books and a note pad, all hitting the severely embarrassed ambassador.

Not much common sense in that. Didnt you read it ?
They also threw books and notepads. So what next? No notepads allowed into lectures.
I have a better idea, when spokespersons or apologists for fascist regimes want to peddle their rotten merchandise to the public they wear a helmet. Then we can throw what we like at them.
