Whose TV war is Lebanon's?

category international | anti-war / imperialism | news report author Thursday July 27, 2006 09:16author by iosaf Report this post to the editors

Only a matter of hours ago as writing, one of Lebanon's privately owned TV stations reported that it had suffered attack from Israeli forces & that the same incident had seen Aamchit army base attacked.

This comes a day after UN observers stationed under the UNIFIL mandate in Lebanon were killed despite repeated notification just as if they were Hzb terrorists.

Hzb has a telly station, but you're not allowed watch it, and very keen readers of this website will remember I told you all about how the signal is blocked 3 years ago. You can though if clever with a satellite dish and the requisite software get to see LBC TV, but its probably easier to go thier website.

After they reported the Israeli forces attack on Aamchit, which is a Lebanese army base some 20 kilometres north of Beirut, which is if you really want to know very far away from their "civilian evacuation zone north of the south" Lebanese border. I'm not an expert, but I watch a lot of telly. American right wing telly has said this morning that the USA is isolated and given space to book writers who argue all Europeans and red Chinese are nazis and thats why they support Hezbollah.

This news article has nothing to do with Hezbollah.
this is the general reception guide for Nilesat, which in orbit relays lots of telly to the little red lines. One set of telly-vision people just got bombed.

Since Condolence Rice came, the UN and Lebanese army have been bombed and Israel's says it's shocked at how difficult the war on terror is to stop & so..... would we mind lending a hand?

nothing to do with Hezbollah
it might not get on telly

If we all were to pay attention to either Israel or the USA we'd forget about the UN.

The French and Italians are today calling for an unconditional ceasefire & they haven't even attached an "a.s.a.p." They want it "now".

I just watch a lot of telly, not really an expert, but I do believe Israel has broken international laws, and declared war on the democratic nation state of Lebanon, and to top it off killed some blue hats.

I blame the nazis.
of course I also condemn NZB
naturally I call on Israel to stop
I didn't vote for Bush or Blair or Aznar or Berlusconi or Ahern.

I just watch telly.

I tried the above link and it didn't work. I also tried http://64.106.244.100/NewsSite/News.aspx which was working perfectly two days ago. It's gone with the wind too.

As we know because we use them in schools, television is the primary educator of the young. Whether they live in Utah or Dublin, Boston or Cairo the TV shapes their world vision and self indentity. & mostly it's just their "mammy / pops / folks / elders & betters" who block signals.

Hezbollah TV was ordered to stop broadcasting into Europe on the 14th of December 2004 on grounds of anti-semitism and holocaust denial http://indymedia.ie/article/67940 , this was the final stage in a reaction which originated in France, back when France still exerted a lot of influence in the region. It had been preceded in the second week of August as I reported http://www.indymedia.ie/newswire.php?story_id=66163&con...83820 by - "the seizure of both servers (with geographical location in USA and UK) of Hezbolah. The organisation is listed as a terrorist grouping by the US Department of Global Menace and exactly what we're doing about it. But it isn't listed as being such by the Europeans (who as of yet don't have an institutionalised list of Global Menace) [and accordingly can't tell you or WON'T tell you who is globally menacing or not - yet]
Spokespeople for Hezbolah have said their site will be back online in a few days, so don't worry about a thing you'll be able to catch back up on their side of things in no time.Hezbolah made your telly screens for being one of the main focus of Lebanese resistance against the Israeli invasion and occupation in the 1980s. Now piss your mammy off loads, and click on these lines and register your computer as supporting an integrated part of the Global Menace and Scourge of Terrorism." & then I tempted people by giving them the link - (wow? eh? they don't read arabic & aren't mad mullahs but still some of them went) http://www.hizbullah.org http://www.hizbullah.tv

Of course since then their site went off & back on - & as I reported in throughout the "hariri's game" series, telecommuncations were an important part of wealth created and accrued during Lebanon's most recent "peaceful years 2002-2006".

To be quite honest, most people in the map or illustration above aren't watching FoxTV, CNN, or even the Simpsons they can get the Astra & Hotbird satellites, but generally "mom / the pops / the folks / the elders & betters" have to pay more. However, they like "y-o-u" are mostly really into watching telly, and are provided with lots of choice (naturally). Anyone pointing their dish at the no less than 9 "arabic" satellites available in Southern Europe is lost for choice when it comes to the weekend staple soap opera. How is the dynasty surviving in new times, what is the youngest daughter who went to university in Europe really doing when she doesn't answer her phone? can little Omar's betrothed deal with the gender challenges of his prediliction for dressing up as belly dancing?

I suppose I ought tell you that Israeli telly viewers watch the most US syndicated Telly on Cable in the area I highlighted in the illustration above. This represents potential advertising target audience of less than 8 million in a potential market of close to 900,000,000 happy consumers. What does this tell us? (1) Israelis don't like arabic telly (2) the Simpsons hasn't done a belly dancing issue (3) the globalised homogenousity of Benetton, Coca Cola and Liberty don't get a lot of viewers identifying with the marketting pitch..,

What might we conclude from this?

that if we only had one global telly station and one united nations UNICEF mandate for childrens' cartoons - we'd live in peace = saleem = shalom

the folks of Sesame Street didn't know how tough it would get.

In fact they might get better pictures now than they did before, "that's the European way". & for those that think such an observation is facetious - please remember ! that after medical supplies, ice & water from Nestle and prepacked meals (provided by Halliburton originally destined for Iraq as it happened) the refugees of the USA's hurricane Katrina 2005 were next provided with a contemporary need - - - Telly . Indeed the US national guard divided the stadium refugee centre between CBS, NBC, Fox, Disney and of course that prayerful section of "touch the screen Christians".

it kept the kids from misbehaving.
Remember that if you're ever made a refugee.....
