category international | sci-tech | other press author Wednesday September 14, 2005 17:24author by hector grays Report this post to the editors

The state of Pakistan has reported succesful military action in the border provinces against Islamic militants.

These islamic militants are being described as Al Qaeda for some readers and Taliban for others.

t Gen Safdar Hussain, who commands Pakistani forces in North Waziristan, speaking at a press conference said in the largest operation by his forces to date, missiles, heavy artillery and a chinese pilotless spy plane drone had been seized.
pretty cool eh? but very noisy.
pretty cool eh? but very noisy.

The spy plane together with some of the arsenal reported to be confiscated is in the photo. The Pakistanis say this is the first such device to have been found in their state, and was being used by the militants to observe troop positions.

According to al Jazeera over 3,500 pakistani troops were involved in the operation, with other media reporting 21 men in custody answering tough questions.

Obviously the militant taliban al qeada mujahadeen have gone beyond flying webcams on kites- You may like to know how you can observe troop positions in your home town but lack the neccesary quarter-master contacts with Red China to purchase your own pilot-less spy plane drone.

Don't be dismayed.

But that's how it is with the Christmas season. Some would have you believe Hugo "the man" Chavez is blaming the delay of visible completion of "operation emanuel" on US spy planes which are in operation over the demilitarized zone. Some would have you believe an explosion on Colombian military base with deaths & injuries was the result of a rocket attack. Some would have you believe that Carla Bruni really does go for wrinkley men who've succeeded in their given theatrical roles more than she gets off on wrinkley rich men in post divorce crises.

Just up the page I linked you to a schematic so you could make your own spyplane on the cheap. & I hope you do with the genuine ambition to having your own satelite system some day just in case you need to offer an umbrella of gurgling static shite.

factoid -

The timeline was not part of the multi-brokered deal & was merely one of Hugo's usually crass attempts at diplomacy. The IRC helicopters & IRC plane can stay in the zone & no-one else is allowed look.

The mission continues.

is it rich wrinklies? or is it powerful wrinklies? or is divorced wrinklies? that get Carla the publicity?

You can google this or check out Jihad watch.
That toy could NOT carry anything or have the range to fly more than 100 meters.
Pretty useless as a super duper spy plane. It reminds me of the line from MonthyPythons Holy Grail. "Wot! A three ounce bird carrying a two pound coconut???"

On Thursday, Pakistani intelligence officials said 13 people had died - seven Arabs and six Central Asians. One told Reuters: "The missile appeared to have been fired by a drone." Correspondents say the US has launched a number of strikes at suspected militants in Pakistan - some of them missiles fired by drones. Pakistan has repeatedly insisted that it will not accept foreign military action on its territory. A senior al-Qaeda leader in Afghanistan, Abu Laith al-Libi, has been killed, Western counter-terrorism officials have told the BBC. News of his death emerged on a website used by Islamist groups. Ekhlaas.org said he had "fallen as a martyr". There is speculation that he was killed by a US missile strike in the North Waziristan area of Pakistan this week.

the word drone seems to fit this article somewhat. Up the page we may read about drones and waziristan where according to news a tippy toppy Al Qaeda man & pals & goats & whomever was around at the time in the way just got their bit of US election "terror update time". We don't talk about wazirstan enough. Sure, it was mentioned in the thread on the current Spanish elections - but you're still not asking does it have a flag, are there eating requirements, dinky music, plans for budget airlines or employment opportunities. Face it - you're not interested in Waziristan & you're not interested in Al Qaeda. That's ok. scroll up the page, I thoughtfully left you a picture of Carla & Sarka back in december. Coz the best & brightest amongst you will read "alibi" for Al-Libi and "utter shite" for Abu Laith.

check the seismic records if you please.

author by cricket hat {yep he's in the cricket hat} - utrum horum mavis ucipe {as you'd say in latin}publication date Sat Feb 02, 2008 01:09author address author phone Report this post to the editors

Waziristan is I think many will agree a beautiful name for a country. Though most of us in Europe brought up with either temperate rainy sort of climates or continental proper seasonal sort of weather might find it a bit drab & dreary and alltogether gray. For such a beautiful name it is surprising how few times it has been mentioned on this indymedia site, whose readers at times appear to either have friends, be on holidays, or simply getting their little cyber-snouts & observational skills into all parts of the world. That is the modern Irish way. We are a post-imperial nation of gentlemen & often well-mannered womenfolk who carry a great burden to civilise the poor unfortuanates who won't get a budget airline 500 job creation this side of doomsday.

Wazirstan was first mention here by dan (who might be the same Dan who added stuff on Burma) & helped us see a Kazakhstan role in the place - http://www.indymedia.ie/article/70921ç

The next mention of Waziristan was by myself on this thread which ought help you see a Chinese role in the place, as well as appreciate how little the Pakistani army go there despite them being all tough on their sovreignity.

The very last mention of the place was also by myself (excluding the comment above & this one) in analysis of the arrests of "jihadists" who two weekends ago who presumedly were going to suicide bomb Barcelona (where I live). In my analysis of that joint secret service operation which for varying important reasons I melded with ongoing coverage of the upcoming Spanish state general election of 2008, I on the 26th of January reported to ye the name a young man who is in south Waziristan who was supposedly going to do a video claiming Al Qaeda responsibilty for a spate of attacks in Europe these last weeks. I had previously on Jan. 20 touched briefly on the oddity that a (quote) Whatever one wish say about the bombings in Europe or tourist resorts used by Europeans attributed to Al Qaeda of the last four years, one thing has not occured yet on this continent - use of terrorist tactics to promote seccessionist or separatist agenda in Asian states
http://www.indymedia.ie/article/85869

This is not the first time drone aircraft have fired missiles in either north or south Waziristan which almost always on this newswire I've referred to as the borderlands between Afghanistan & Pakistan . But my friends, Waziristan has just got bigger less than 11 days after Europe calmed down from its visit by General musharref & assurances that the nuclear arsenal are safe (c/f an interesting interview I with Musharref on the subject I bounced to you http://www.indymedia.ie/article/85885 ) Oh yes.

The BBC showed no inclination to source any of the usual recognised (@ least to people who stare at goats & tinfoil, walls or roaches) conduits for either SIS/MI6 or other "Brit commonwealth" gangs who have missile armed drones. I assure ye they don't look like the Chinese thing in the illustration at the top of this page. Nor do they look like completely like the set ordered by the Spanish army last year to offer strategic support to their peacekeeping mssions in either Afghanistan or Lebanon. I'll be even more frank, lay it on the line - they look more like the specimen which was downed roughly ten months ago in Somalia. The poor locals thought it was either Ezekiel's chariot or an Alien spacecraft. Which worked out quite well, I got to hear about it on two seperate grapevines before the salvage contracts went on four ways to pick up the pieces. I'm sure I've told ye never to go to Somalia........ well don't.

The source provided by the BBC for the news in the last comment was instead bounced through a "thinktank" agency who likes people to think it knows everything about "Al Qaeda websites". http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/south_asia/7220823.stm since which they've had to update the text coz now we don't know if yer man is dead or not. . Sure he might have the strength of a hundred oxen & the staying power of cuchallain.

The French likewise had no inclination to verify this startling news that Al Qaeda's number 3 was dead but had the wonderful idea of mentioning the group "SITE" who had read it on the Al-Fajr website. You don't want a link coz you're not going there.

"SITE Intelligence Group (un groupe américain spécialisé dans l'étude des communications d'Al-Qaida) a aussi indiqué "qu'un large bandeau est apparu sur Al-Ekhlaas, un forum Internet affilié à Al-Qaida annonçant la mort d'Abou Laith Al-Libi"] http://www.lemonde.fr/asie-pacifique/article/2008/02/01...95309

whilst the US press said almost nothing. Nor did the Chinese - are flying hector gray dones all over the shop. [ I told ye ages ago (supposedly rehashing old news according to a commentator above) hector grays like many of my user names on the internet was a bit of a joke. you could search this site for "hector grays" if you want to. It's not important. ]

Now the only person in the Pakistani establishment who has ever bothered mentioning Waziristan was Imran Khan who accused Musharref of acting illegaly in the place.
But just coz you recognise the name Imran Khan doesn't really mean anything, as I tried to make clear in comments & additions to my analysis of "how pakistan went pop" : http://www.indymedia.ie/article/83379 Imran Khan isn't really who you'd be paying attention to now on the whole birth of Waziristan thing.
That is except for Musharref's regime who after the constitutional suspension & purge of key secret service personal saw Bhutto assasinated in very odd circumstances (Still under investigation) and they blamed it on South Waziristani Taliban. Al Qaeda from North Waziristan denied it. [cf Al q claim http://www.indymedia.ie/article/85627 Al Q deny http://www.indymedia.ie/article/85648 ]

It is too early to ask will Waziristani jihadists ever live in peace & overcome the way they walk their goats differently.

__________________________

well what did the finest minds in Christendom whose IQ's only get to 180 think would happen after pakistan went pop?

"utrum mavis horum acipe" is a bit of dog latin. Does exactly what it says on the tin. You've got be
agah bakhabar as they say in Pakistan, the viable bit, with a constitution & nukes and language & patriotism & shite like that. They don't say "agah bakhabar" ("cop yourself on & be sussed") up in Wazirstan north or out in Wazirstan south.

You'd have been better off looking at Carla Bruni's & ex-Mrs Sarko's ring - leave the Waziristanis alone as soon as they agree to leave us alone. no? that's how cricket goes. or is it hardball?
