The ozone hole scare of the 1980s and the banning of CFCs was the template for the subsequent alarm promoting Net Zero. Yet the ozone hole is now back as large as ever, even after a 35-year CFC ban.

FF's Eoin Ryan endorses US military use of Shannon airport

category national | anti-war / imperialism | press release author Tuesday May 11, 2004 16:13author by rovingreporter Report this post to the editors

FF's Eoin Ryan's opinion on use of shannon and idea about confronting councillors and wannabeMEPs

Eoin Ryan fully supports the US military use of Shannon airport, he told Indymedia at 8am this morning while asking for votes at Pearse station, Dublin.

The newspapers on the stand beside him all had headlines about the systematic human rights abuse and breaches of the geneva convention perpetrated by US soldiers.

When answering, he could not even turn around to fully face his constituent.

*idea:* how about confronting, emailing and ringing local councillors and wanna be MEPs and asking them bout this and local issues eg road through Tara valley, Dun Laoghaire baths...

All the councillors numbers are in the section 15 freedom of information manuals, most of which are on-line. I'd say the MEP's have websites.

I know its working inside the box and representative politics is failing us but might be worth a call or too. or not... there'll be a chance for a shannonside picnic in June anyway.

now if only anyone had seen that Royston fellah . . .

just saw this on BCN.imc it's a petition to the Irish Government as it holds Presidency of the European Union to control arms.
http://www.controlarms.org/es/actua_ya/irlanda.htm?actionsource=ioemail02
it's in spanish, pity the mountain dwelling Catalans don't understand Spanish.
So here it' is in English:-
http://www.controlarms.org/act_now/irish_action.htm
good site.

I told you all about the almost forgotten hill dwellers of Catalanland yesterday, just abut when I was doing my best to get Blair (2º) to like "say he'll go when we put the last straw in the turf basket
(c/f http://www.indymedia.ie/newswire.php?story_id=64967&condense_comments=false#comment73952)
I feel comunicative so I'll tell you some more, the Catalans only enemy in the whole world is the Basque. They've been fighting tooth and nail now for almost three milenia, when the Catalan general el Duc von Clos imported a herd of elephants from neighbouring Carthage to attack the Basques and steal their kilts and scimitars.
Though of course these days in EU land, the animosity between these mostly illiterate yet cheerful hill dwellers has been reduced to a simple argument but for them of vital importance.
- Oh which side should a beret lean?
The Basque opts for slightly sloping over the left ear, where as the Catalan maitains that it should be peaky in the middle and point out rigidly over the right ear.
It is hoped that the USA will in the neear future bring this issue before the relevant authorities, at least that was the deal made between the US secretary of state and Mr Piquieiei the leader of the maulets, Catalanland's army.

Meanwhile in the real world:-
Eoin Ryan Man,
if we can get entrusted with the BHS files for a night of drug-taking, don't you think we can sort you out? Your endorsement of the use of one of our national resources will settle very poorly on your permanent record.
