Is the era of cheap internet surveys over? A new paper demonstrates that AIs can now be "trivially programmed" to answer online surveys in ways that are essentially indistinguishable from humans.

We're a week away from the most painful Budget in history thanks largely to the eye-watering cost of lockdown. Yet Baroness Hallett says next time the Government must be ready to go harder and faster. This is insanity.

It's bad enough that all UK TV users are forced to fund the BBC via a TV licence. But it's worse than that, says Charlotte Gill: millions of pounds of taxpayers' money are handed to the corporation via backdoor channels.

Attacks on schools continue

category derry | anti-war / imperialism | news report author Monday September 29, 2003 06:54author by McMean Report this post to the editors

A pipe-bomb was left at the gates of a Catholic school in north Belfast over the weekend.

Part of Fortwilliam Park was closed after the device was found at the gates of Dominican College.

Last week the same school was disrupted while a controlled explosion was carried out on a suspicious device left outside.

Sinn Féin north Belfast councillor Danny Lavery condemned the incident.

``It is completely unacceptable. Those responsible are targeting the easiest and most vulnerable places,'' he said.

``Schools should be treated with respect and left alone as places where our children go to get their education.

``Those responsible have no support and the vast majority of the community would prefer to see schools left untouched by sectarianism.''

A number of schools have been targeted in the last few weeks, including Holy Cross Primary School for girls and an Irish Language nursery school, which was attacked by arsonists.

Meanwhile, there have been attacks again on the McClure Street area of south Belfast. A number of nationalist youths were injured during clashes with loyalists throwing firworks and other missiles.

Former Sinn Féin mayor of Belfast Alex Maskey said trouble in the area was becoming a nightly occurrence.

``I would like to appeal again to loyalist and unionist representatives to bring an end to this,'' he said. ``Local republicans are working hard to keep people away from this area.''

``I am concerned there is a sinister agenda at work here because in recent weeks we have seen an increase in attacks on the nationalist community in McClure Street.''

The thugs both republican and loyalist who continue to attack ordinary decent people are beneath contempt.
What the hell difference does it make what religion, colour, language, sexual orientation etc. you are. Everyone should just grow up and accept each other for who they are.
I was in Dublin recently and I saw "niggers out" sprayed painted on a wall. As a white person the sight of such slogans sickens me to my stomach. I don't know what the reaction of a "nigger" would be beacuse frankly i don't know any black people. I would like to get to know Beyonce.
I myself am an atheist but i do not go around pushing my brand of "faith" down the throats of religious people around me. I live and let live.
I listen to their point of view and they listen to mine. We still go out and have a few pints in the pub.
I think it is truely tragic that since 1994 and the beginings of the present peace process and new generation of intolerant idiots have grown to adulthood.
Why shouldn't Catholic "taigs" and Protestant " prods" who live only down the street from each other be friends like in any other civilised country in Europe and North America.
Do they again want to return to a civil war over religion and politics?
In future will they model themselves on Islamic nutters who blow themselves up?

Whenever there is an attack on catholic children or priests and graves some people cannot find it within themselves to just condemn that. No, they have to also bring in an attack on Republicans.

Look, its Loyalists who are bombing these schools and it is loyalists who wont even let the dead rest in peace.

The bigotry experienced by catholic school children comes from the words and actions of Loyalist Politicians such as Paisley and Trimble, they must take reponsibility for how their comments are interpreted by their dim but enthusiastic followers.
We need Hate Crimes legislation, now.

Sectarian attacks and intimidation of schools started with a small section of hardline bigoted animals within 'C'company such as Johnny Adair's own animal brother, who pioneered harrassment of Holy Cross primary school girls in Ardoyne. Both communities then became engulfed in the ensuing tidal wave of sectarian shit stirring whipped up by a tiny minority of neo nazi hardline bigots from 'C' company and the LVF.

Recently pipe bomb phone-in fiend Gary Smith a close 'C' company associate of Johnny Adair has been released.

It only takes one big mouth, small minded crazed sectarian neo nazi LVF/UUP/DUP bigot to encourage wee kids to leave pipe bombs and hoaxes, to do their dirty work for them.

We must assume that loyalists are working to the british government/unionist agenda again. With Andre Shoukri banged up in prison, allegedly on smack, maybe his associates have made a deal with the brit government for his early release, if they work to a british government agenda of heightening sectarian tension, as Johnny Adair and 'C' company have done in the past.
Let us not forget the close bond between Mr Adair and John bulldog blockhead reid. The loyalist commission has condemned the abuse of Cemetery sunday worshippers, so who is behind the attacks. If you watched C4 last night, it is clear the SAS/brit government spook org FRU, are not below, such covert activities, to destablise the peace process, incite republican retaliation and save lickle Davy trunchbull's neck. It is clear Unionists under the direction of the brit government are not happy having to share power with catholics and republicans.

Recently stuck up snobby establishment UUP MP Ivan Hunter 'always quick to blame the victims', blamed catholic cemetery sunday worshippers and Father Dan Whyte for the trouble in Glengormley.

and this so-called bullshit that the red hand defenders are making abou how the violence is just retribution for some immature catholic kids throwing stones at a bus full of young hun scum is nonsense... so some DOB's wet their pants. I get drunk I piss the bed and i know alot of other bhoys who have done the same. But the issue at hand is turning things up a notch in retaliation.
who am i to make idle threats anyway but be wary of what the people of Ireland will do to take matters into their hands. that and the American public who hears about it. Think about that
