The Ireland Palestine Solidarity Campaign (IPSC) has called a mass demonstration for 2pm this Saturday in Dublin at which the Freedom Flotilla deportees will speak. The IPSC has learned, with relief, that the remaining Irish Freedom Flotilla prisoners are in the air tonight, en route from Tel Aviv airport to Istanbul, along with all the remaining detainees from the ill fated aid flotilla.Last night, around 120 people were deported via Israel's border with Jordan. read full story / add a comment

There will be a press conference with returned Irish Flotilla detainee Shane Dillon today at 2pm in Central Hotel, Exchequer Street, Dublin 2. Mr Dillon, who was deported to Ireland late last night will speak of his experiences on board the Challenger ship when it was boarded by Israeli commandos on Monday where he said he witness the commandos physically attacking non-violent passengers. The Israeli state is to release all 680 detained members of the Gaza Freedom Flotilla immediately - although the process is expected to take up to 48 hours. This number includes, according to official Israeli sources, 9 Irish people. It has also been reported by the Irish Embassy in Israel that Irishman Dr Fintan Lane was "roughed up" during interrogation by Israeli officials, but that he is in good spirits - the news came in a conversation with Dr. Lane's father Jim. SpunOut.ie a national web based youth organisation, is going to run a pilot project youth activist training programme this summer. The organisation has long held the view that younger people are often treated like 'people in waiting' rather that citizens with a right to partcipate in Irish Society. We hope that through efforts, such as this course and some other longer term projects that we are brewing up here in SpunOut.ie that we can help to facilitate younger people to get active about changing the things that bother them .We think this is really urgent at the moment due to the levels of youth unemployment and disengagement from the political or civic sphere here. We are seeking your input and suggestions for the content of our short courses.
