On 9 April 2011, human rights defender Mr Abdulhadi Al-Khawaja was arrested and beaten unconscious by police in Al-Manama, Bahrain. Abdulhadi Al-Khawaja is a former Protection Co-ordinator for Front Line and former President of the Bahrain Centre for Human Rights (BCHR). His current whereabouts, along with that of two of his sons-in-law, remains unknown and he is believed to be at high risk of torture.

As the controversial itinerary for the upcoming state visit by Elizabeth Windsor is revealed éirígí have announced the details of their latest protest against that same visit. The protest, which is set to take place at 1pm on Saturday April 16th at the GPO in Dublin, will feature a piece of street theatre which will see ‘Elizabeth Windsor’ beheaded in a French revolution- style guillotine. read full story / add a comment
