Back in February of this year (09-02-2007) I wrote an article in Indymedia about the Ireland, San Mario match and what I though was Ireland’s darkest day, until tonight or is it today going into tonight. Is it possible that Irish soccer could plunge to such a debt where the playing of such, was in itself an insult to the standard required in order for one to play on a pitch as fine as that which is in Croker. The Cyprus match has given us food for thought, not about Staunton but about the FAI itself. read full story / add a comment ![]()

The October 31st holiday that we today know as Halloween has strong roots in paganism and is closely connected with worship of the Enemy of this world, Satan. It is a holiday that generally glorifies the dark things of this world, rather than the light of Jesus Christ, The Truth. read full story / add a comment ![]()

This morning at 8.30 the Mossos arrived and carried out the eviction of anohter of Barcelonas most important social centres, Ruina Amalia, one of the last few squatted spaces in the Raval nieghbourhood of the old city. The centre was another of the critical spaces and nodal points of BCN's social movements, about 20 people lived in the squatted space and its social centre hosted a wide range of services and support to the social movement: Okupa office, ASF (architects sans frontiers: arx without borders) support, free internet access, Carcoma the popular carpenter, costume workshop, free shop, kilombo library, theatre and dance space, flamenco patio with cheap bar and cafe. This is another severe blow to critical nodal points of the cities social movement. It seems blow after blow has been dealt out with no real response from the movements..... Is it time for a change of thinking or acting? read full story / add a comment ![]()

Despite fears of getting caught in the trap of 'summitism' & 'dead end activism' a couple of us met in seomra spraoi last night to see about making sure the world bank can't just swoop into our capital city without their public profile getting messed with as a result. A meeting of the Dublin section of Anti-War Ireland will be held in Seomra Spraoi next Saturday. With the occupations ongoing in Iraq, Afghanistan and Palestine, and the threat of a US attack on Iran, it is essential that the anti-war movement continue to mobilise and to look at ways of resisting these wars of imperialism. AWI is an open democratic group in which all have an equal say. Come along and get involved...or even come along to see whether you want to get involved in the group. All opponents of imperialist war welcome! read full story / add a comment ![]()

Student activists at Tehran University confronted "President" Ahmadinejad and chanted "Death To The Dictator". The Universioties are no longer a safe haven for Ahmadinejad. About 100 students staged a rare protest yesterday against Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, calling him a "dictator" as he gave a speech marking the beginning of the academic year at Tehran University. The protest prompted scuffles between the demonstrators and hardline university students loyal to Ahmadinejad, who ignored chants of "Death to dictator" and continued his speech on the merits of science and pitfalls of Western-style democracy, witnesses said. The hardline students chanted back "Thank you president" as police looked on from the outside the university's gates. No physical altercations took place, and the protesters dispersed after the car carrying Ahmadinejad left the campus. read full story / add a comment
