Should the Right take the moral high ground and refrain from cancel culture? Or should it give the Left a taste of its own medicine ? and try to teach it a lesson? It has to be the latter, argues Professor James Allan.

It's time to admit that Christians are being persecuted in two-tier Britain, says Belinda Brown. The flimsiest claims of 'offence' from normal expressions of Christian faith are getting people sacked and arrested.

Greta Thunberg's Gaza flotilla has been thrown into chaos after one of its activists came out as queer, prompting the organiser to resign. Homosexuality, of course, is criminalised in Gaza.

Israel has paid £1.5m in damages to the family of James Miller, the British cameraman murdered by an Israeli officer while waving a white flag in Rafah (Gaza) 2003.

At first the Israelis had claimed he was shot by Palestinian gunmen but this false allegation was disproved by ballistics tests read full story / add a comment

I was amazed to hear that Joe the plumber is now for pyjama TV (http://www.pjtv.com/?cmd=page&page-id=111) "reporting" from Sderot on Newstalk yesterday.

I wondered what qualified him so uniquely for this position?

Perhaps its his unique skills acquired over many years as a plumber in dealing with large quantities of shit?

According to Joe

"I don't think journalists should be anywhere around war.

I mean you guys report where our troops are at

you report what's happening day-to-day

you make a big deal out of it

I think it's assinine

I think media should be abolished from, you know, reporting" read full story / add a comment

With increasing numbers choosing not to buy new cars here, or going north in search of second-hand bargains, there has been much discussion in the Irish motoring industry as to how a moribund market might be revived. The obvioius option: scrapping excise duty on cars (or Vehicle Registration Tax) is the elephant in the room that has been studiously ignored. read full story / add a comment

The AOHS is pleased to hear of the financial difficulties of the Irish Coursing Club due to a court ruling that it must pay damages to a land developer Greenband Investments, on the eve of the 2009 ICC final in Clonmel.
Despite strong public opinion which favours an end to this outdated and barbaric pursuit, Coursing is still hanging in there, the pastime of the minority cloth-cap brigade. Hare Coursing is carried out for pleasure and gambling purposes only.

There is no entity in the world more keenly aware of the criminal nature of the Israeli project in Palestine than the government of Israel itself. David Ben Gurion, the first Prime Minister of Israel is often quoted on this point. But while Palestinians remain in a state of exile and oppression in their own country, he cannot be quoted enough:

"Why should the Arabs make peace? If I was an Arab leader I would never make terms with Israel. That is natural: we have taken their country. Sure God promised it to us, but what does that matter to them? Our God is not theirs. We come from Israel, but two thousand years ago, and what is that to them? There has been antisemitism, the Nazis, Hitler, Auschwitz, but was that their fault? They only see one thing: we have come here and stolen their country. Why should they accept that? "

A short article in the Irish edition of the Daily Mirror points out the absurdity of the country making cutbacks in public services while sitting on billions of euro worth of natural resources, and happily handing them over to the most profitable companies in the world.

A quick quote at the end makes clear that Fine Gael see nothing wrong with the present system, seeing the giveaway of 100 per cent of what is found as an "incentive". Presumably if Simon Coveney had gold buried in his garden, he would give it all away to anyone who was prepared to help him dig for it, keeping none for himself...

Following the successful factory occupation of Republic Windows and Doors in Chicago, the workers of Waterford Glass now show the way to fight redundancies and lay offs. In a year where it is estimated that up to 50 million workers are due to lose their jobs, and banks continue to be propped up with billions of dollars and euro, we need to demand that companies are nationalised and jobs defended. The Direct Action by the Waterford Workers now puts it up to the Irish government- who is more important, workers and their families or the tiny financial elite of the banks.

Nationalise the Glass, and let the workers run the factory. They'd do a better job of it.
