Europe is committing economic suicide all because they are doing the bidding of US Neocons by imposing ridiculous sanctions against Russia which are doing far more damage to Europe and very little to Russia. They are equivalent to threatening to shoot yourself in both feet and the head and then going ahead and doing it. It is a completely idiotic and absurd situation that Europe has arrived in. We are already seeing the initial consequences in the form of fuel price rises and inflation. The sanctions have actually done three things. They have strengthened Russia's finances and independence, they have accelerated the destruction of the dollar and all fiat currencies connected to it and they are dealing an economc death blow to Europe's economy. By refusing Russian gas it has led to soaring prices and there is no viable alternative to replace the huge quantities of it. Gas is not just used for heating but also for generating base load electrical power. And Russian oil is used to supply a large chunk of the diesel fuel used in Europe and literally everything we buy and do, needs diesel. Diesel is the life blood of the real physical world. Any disruption there and we will all feel it very directly very quickly. The Irish government are fully aware of the potentially dire consequences of these reckless decisions because they have made it known that they have emergency plans for fuel rationing. Unfortunately it seems the public don't fully realize the scale of the pending crisis and that it is all caused by war-mongering and the belligerent actions of US & NATO cheered on by our own clueless politicians. It is quite clear that every government and institution is captured by sinister elements and those in key positions of power and influence have either been bought off or blackmailed. This was all very evident during Covid, when we saw how governments moved in lockstep to a single script, orchestrated by the totalitarian forces in the background. The Epstein revelations gave the public an insight into the extent and depth of blackmail and how it reached the highest echelons of society. read full story / add a comment
national / environment / press release Friday May 01, 2020 11:30 by no to Fracking gas 1 comment (last - wednesday july 15, 2020 09:55)
130 national and international groups have today written to all Irish Party leaders requesting them to remove support for fracked gas infrastructure in Ireland. The letter comes as negotiations for Government intensify and requests an explicit policy statement to be included in the next Programme for Government against the development of all new fossil fuel infrastructure in the form of LNG import terminals that could facilitate the entry of unconventional fracked gas into the Irish energy mix. Two fracked gas terminals, or - LNG - terminals are currently proposed, in Shannon and Cork. The terminals would be developed as import hubs, allowing fracked gas into the European market from the USA where there is currently an oversupply of this controversial fuel. The terminals would play an important role in the shale gas supply chain, the market for which is currently very unstable. read full story / add a comment
The European elections are this Friday on May 24th and there are good reasons to consider your vote very carefully because it does make a difference because practically every bit of law passed in the EU has to be adopted by Ireland at some point. It is a great way for politicans here to say the "EU forced us to..." They said that one about the attempt to privatise water during that campaign. It can be safely assumed that most people are for internet freedom, protection of the environment and in particular to live in places with unpolluted water, clean air and safe from exposure to toxic chemicals. These are all no brainers. In the area of military we have seen how years of bringing democracy to the Middle East by bombing them has resulted in devastation and huge waves of human refugees and immigration and time and time again the nefarious activities of the intellegence agencies of the big powers like USA, UK, France and NATO show them to be heavily linked to the various terrorist groups, via training, funding and weapons supply through third party countries like Saudi Arabia and Qatar in order to disrupt and overthrown regimes they don't like. So do people really want Ireland to drop it's neutrality and get aboard these very costly military adventures and volunteer it's soldiers for basically ordained mass murder? At a guess, the answer is probably no. read full story / add a comment

Ireland has become the fourth European country to ban hydraulic fracturing (after France, Bulgaria and Germany). On June 28, the Petroleum and Other Minerals Development (Prohibition of Onshore Hydraulic Fracturing) Bill passed the final legislative stages in the Seanad. The session included the committee, report, and final stages that took place in the Seanad chamber, where the gallery was full of supporters of the ban. It now requires only the signature of President Michael D. Higgins to become law. This is expected in the coming days. read full story / add a comment

In a move being hailed as ‘historic’ and a ‘significant win’ Ireland may soon become the world’s first country to fully divest from all fossil fuels. Yesterday the Government was defeated as the Fossil Fuel Divestment Bill passed the second stage 90 votes to 53. Friends of the Earth described as “historic” the vote to progress a Bill to pull taxpayer’s money out of fossil fuel companies. read full story / add a comment

Dalradian Gold, the Canadian based mining firm, are planning to set up a gold mine and processing plant in the beautiful Sperrin Mountains, County Tyrone. Described as a potential “gold rush”, Dalradian claim their survey shows there are up to four million ounces of gold in the Sperrins. Officials claim it could produce 120,000 ounces per year for decades and tens of millions in profits. Michael Arthur reports. However, to remove the gold, Cyanide will be pumped into the mountains. This process is extremely dangerous for the public health of people living in the area and the local ecosystem, the nearby Owenkillew River is the home of the protected Freshwater Pearl Mussel. read full story / add a comment

The FG TD Tony McLoughlin has tabled a private members bill to ban Fracking. There have been two previous motions to ban Fracking, the first by People Before Profit and the second by Sinn Fein. However, this third attempt has come from an unexpected quarter -from within the ranks of FG itself. Deputy McLoughlin is indeed correct to want to ban Fracking as basically all it does is pollutes the water table indefinitely over a huge area for paltry amounts of gas causing far more harm than good. read full story / add a comment

On Monday 16 May InfraStrata PLC began to drill, seeking to confirm a viable oil find which will pave the way for large scale extraction. The statement comes after NI Water’s decision to allow Infrastrata to begin drilling for oil just 380 metres away from Woodburn reservoir in Co Antrim. This could lead to UK company, Tramboran, attempting to drill in Fermanagh, which in turn, could lead to Fracking in Leitrim and Cavan. read full story / add a comment
