Giving succour to the racists.
The DUP’S Sammy Wilson has recently accused anti racism groups of exaggerating the scale of racism to access public funding. Mr Wilson stated that ‘these charges of racism were always coincided with the holding out of the hand for more money for the organisations which were dealing with the issue’ and referred to the situation as ‘an anti racism industry’. read full story / add a comment

The Stormont administration is at a critical juncture, with the Executive not having met in several months. It seems an eternity since Paisley and McGuinness chuckled their way through meetings and joint events. Yet much of that public display of togetherness has little substance when it comes to real and beneficial change for working people or in dealing with the issues which have now re-surfaced and are the cause for the recent financial instability. read full story / add a comment

Dear friends below I give details of some more of the various initiatives that Street Seen will be involved in, in the months ahead. Also I give an updated version for Indymedia on an article I had written a while back – more especially in relation to the last few days of great weather. It talks about my increasing awareness and indeed growing love for nature and the environment. In youth such things I had not only not taken notice of, but if I had of, I believe I may not have spoken about it given the immediacy of war and the association with ‘manly’ peers of those times. Indeed the immediate area of my childhood, that of the Turf, Murph, the Falls and surrounding area, is now the very same area that is bringing my senses alive through that appreciation of the environment and nature. Firstly though a few upcoming initiatives of Street Seen. read full story / add a comment

I reprint an article I had written a few years ago that was carried in the main Northern Newspapers at that time. -Friends over the last weekend yet another two young men took there own lives in my local area. This is a growing tragedy that I must admit that when reading of such increasing growing deaths, it brings a lump to my throat.. For oneself I would have thought that those involved in the conflict would have found it more difficult to adjust {and many have}. Yet it seems teenagers and those in their twenties {the children of those at the forefront and brunt of the war} are finding it even more difficult. This is a situation that needs to be addressed and addressed urgently and many good community activists along with parents of those deceased are campaigning actively on this. The situation is getting worse and I believe that all support that can be, should be forthcoming to such campaigns, both in the forefront and in the background on this matter., read full story / add a comment
