I have been further arrested on two separate occasions for public expresion of "bollocks" and "blair". Both cases were dropped on the date of trial under somewhat convenient circumstances, the CPS offering no evidence. The first case was dropped the week the Sex Pistols released their 3oth anniversay edition of the album "Never Mind the Bollocks - Here's the Sex Pistols". The second case was to be attended by Lady mary Warnock, picking up the torch of common sense from Professor Kingsley and QC John Mortimer who valiantly defended our right to use that Saxon Age old word of bollocks. read full story / add a comment

Cork Food Web imagines a network of community gardens, allotments, urban and rural farms and food parks all over Cork city and county run autonomously by local communities and linked by the shared need to feed ourselves and mind our environment. The website is a ‘social networking site’ so allows users to create their own profile, get to know each other and form groups. In just a few months of existence membership has grown to 154, with members from the city and all across Cork county forming online interest groups, exchanging information and skills and creating events together. read full story / add a comment ![]()

The artist has undertaken a period of research in the ICA London's archive, focusing on two seminal events – the exhibition When Attitudes Become Form (1971) and the conference The State of British Art, A Debate (1978). Each connects to debates around art-making and organisation: Pierce presents both the practical remnants of institutional organisation, including redundant pedestals and archival documents; and the broader concerns of political organisation and protest through interviews and documentation, including video of a workshop where participants acted out gestures and recited quotes from bystanders at political demonstrations in the US between 1968-2008. read full story / add a comment ![]()

The European Commission has lodged proceedings against Ireland with the European Court of Justice for its failure to assess and control unauthorised quarrying and similar activities. The proceedings follow a Letter of Formal Notice and a Reasoned Opinion sent by the Commission to Ireland over the past three years. The BBC’s Countryfile programme tomorrow is highlighting the importance of maintaining limestone pavement as a unique natural habitat. Speaking in an interview from the Burren on the programme, Friends of the Irish Environment’s Tony Lowes explained that ‘The European Commission has just entered a case against Ireland in the European Court of Justice for its failure to control quarrying. The developers are actually quarrying and then looking for permission and of course this is the wrong way, you're supposed to assess your impact before you start." read full story / add a comment ![]()
