The Alliance for Animal Rights (AFAR) are accusing Estee Lauder's Crème de la Mer and Aer Rianta Retail of gross cruelty, repedative neglect and negligence to Seahorses and their young over the past year in Dublin Airport. The Animal Rights group and other welfare groups were alerted to the situation when dead seahorses were seen in the tank at departures in Dublin Airport. Staff at the Airport and travellers using the route to Departures contacted the group. read full story / add a comment

Oxford University's records show that in 2003, the Vodafone Group Foundation gave £184,494.14 to the university. At SPEAK we are keen to acknowledge the good work of the Vodafone Foundation, but feel its equally important to point out a fundamental flaw in their strategy. How can a charity give money to worthwhile causes around the world, whilst at the same time giving a substantial amount to an institution that is involved in the abuse and destruction of thousands of innocent non human animals, and an institution that employs as part of its workforce an individual who has been investigated by the police for horrific cruelty to a monkey? read full story / add a comment

The Alliance for Animal Rights is pleased to learn that Circus Sydney have retired the Ailing African Elephant Max to a safari style Park in Germany. This Elephant has been the subject of controversy since he started touring this season. He was one of two elephants at Circus Sydney that animal Rights Campaigners reported to Gardai over the last few months as in need of urgent medical attention for a hind leg injury . read full story / add a comment

In two seperate incidents this evening, members of Circus SYDNEY(a Courtney Circus / previously Circus OZZ and Circus NEW YORK) assaulted different activists both inside and outside the circus. The first incident happened when some activists from The Alliance for Animal Rights were giving out flyers on the footpath outside the Circus now in Blackrock. A circus member attempted to get one by the neck and take their leaflets. The second incident happened when four people including two minors and a wild animal expert attended the actual show. A female was set upon by a circus member and had her digital camera snatched and batteries removed. She had to attend St Vincents Hospital for treatment for a possible joint fracture in her hand, she was also verbally threatened. Activists called for Gardai assistance.
