Authorities in Iran are still attempting to crush the student movement that has been organising against the theocratic state, and against imperialist warmongering and sanctions. A leading member of the Students for Freedom and Equality group, the DAB (Daneshjouyan-e Azadi Khah va Beraber Talab), Peyman Piran, is facing deportation from Norway. Members of DAB have said that Peyman’s life would be in danger if he is returned to Iran after being subjected to ill-treatment and imprisoned for anti-regime activities going back to 1999. You can help Peyman by contacting the Norwegian consulate and the Refugee Council of Norway to demand that he is permitted to stay in Norway (details below). read full story / add a comment

The Belfast Basque Solidarity Committee has stated that the arrest of Arturo Villanueva, a member of the Basque community from Nafarroa province , living in Belfast, is yet more evidence of the Spanish authorities' attack on Basque civil society and expressed their solidarity with him. The Easter Lily which is worn by Irish Republicans throughout the Easter period is a symbol of remembrance for Ireland’s patriot dead and all Easter Lily collections are used for the upkeep and maintenance of Republican graves and monuments. This is a copy of the press release sent out regarding the 'Save Sligos Cancer Services' (SCSS). The group are organising a huge protest in Sligo this good friday, they are marching on Sligo General and demanding that the management choose whether they are going to represent the people of the Northwest or the private interests and agenda of Mary Harney and the HSE. The SCSS have stated that their memmbers are sick and tired of teh duplicity and lies of both the management in Sligo and the HSE and are no longer willing to accept it.
