Further scientific evidence has emerged to suggest that the Earth?s atmosphere is 'saturated' with carbon dioxide, meaning that at higher levels the 'greenhouse' gas will not cause temperatures to rise.

Radical Rosary Mystery Tour

category dublin | anti-war / imperialism | news report author Wednesday May 18, 2011 13:52author by Dave Donnellan Report this post to the editors

No queen but Mary Queen of Heaven -- single mother, refugee, role model for a revolutionary!

The walking tour of Dublin, on the eve of the visit of Queen Elizabeth, was led by an image of Our Lady of Guadalupe with the slogan: "No queen but Mary Queen of Heaven -- single mother, refugee, role model for a revolutionary!"

The tour will make a number of stops around the city to mark "joyful, glorious and sorrowful mysteries", according to organiser Ciaron O'Reilly, one of the Shannon Five who damaged a US navy plane at Shannon Airport in 2003 and were subsequently acquitted by a Dublin jury. Sites will include "sorrowful mysteries" at the Central Bank and Irish Aviation Authority, "glorious mysteries" at the statues of Jim Larkin and Phil Lynott, and "joyful mysteries" at a drug-treatment centre and among the immigrant businesses of Moore Street.
"The routine at each stop will be short reflection connecting the site to the specific 'mystery' and a song or a recitation relevant to the site," O'Reilly said. "Then those who are into the Rosary can recite a decade, and those who feel uncomfortable can begin the procession to the next stop."

Ben Griffin, who served with the SAS in Iraq and then refused a second tour of duty, will take part in the tour. Griffin now works as a volunteer at the Giuseppe Conlon Catholic Worker House in north London, and will be in Ireland as a guest of the Irish Anti-War Movement to protest the royal and US-presidential visits. "I'll be in Ireland to support people working for peace and independence and trying to stop the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan," Griffin said. Griffin has been subject to a gag order from the British ministry of defence for speaking out against the wars.

..an Olympics that will take us back to 1936...

interesting!

Have you heard that they will be installing surface to air missiles on some rooftops during the olympics to shoot down any "terrorists". Daft! (but no doubt profitable for some weapons company)

Sports fans should rehearse "duck and cover" if staying within 5km of the events ;-)

On the eve of the Royal wedding we contacted by London based, Australian born (& banned) human rights activist Peter Tatchell. He requested support for a demonstration outside of Buckhingham Palace due to the nature of the guest list for the wedding. The Saud family were arriving for the knees up and they had just sent their troops into Bahrain to suppress the Arab Spring. The last act Blair did before he stepped down as PM was to cancel a Met Police Serious Crime Squad investigation into a billion quid slush fund BAE was running for one Saudi prince who did the shop for hi tech weapons. 5 Catholic Workers turned up that afternoon to join Peter and some Bahrainians outside the Palace. The Wedding tourist crowd was enormous, the police presence was intense, so we followed Peter expressing solidarity with the people of Bahrain.. He was great, he got us in and out there without being lifted as we were loosely ketlled by some pretty stressed out coppers.

The following morning in a "Minority Report" style of pre-emptive policing @ squats were raided in south London as people were detained on suspicion that they may cause a disturbance later in the day. As the day unfolded or unraveled attempts at expressing dissenting views were met with the same Minority Report style.

Some of those dealt with are now taking a Judicial Review

Royal wedding protesters challenge police over arrests – video

Fifty-five people were arrested on the day of the royal wedding last year, 30 of them for a potential breach of the peace. A year on, 15 of them are taking the police to court for a judicial review to challenge the tactics that were used that day against a 'hypothetical protest that had already been criminalised'. They tell the Guardian why they want the law to change and discuss what the practice could mean for the policing of protests at the Olympics
