category dublin | anti-capitalism | event notice author Monday May 02, 2011 19:25author by Mark Price - Socially Engaged Buddhists' Networkauthor phone 086 3454332 Report this post to the editors

Integrating reflective practice with social and political engagement

A short workshop for Buddhists who wish to put their insights into practice in a social or political context, and to activists who wish to bring clarity of vision to their activities through reflective "inner work".

Facilitator: Ken Jones, author of "The New Social Face of Buddhism".

Saturday 25 June, 11am-1pm
Central Hotel, Exchequer St., Dublin 2

What has Buddhism got to offer in relation to the global crisis of capital? Ken Jones, a prominent proponent of socially engaged Buddhism, offers a provocative analysis of the world economic crisis from the perspective of Buddhist teaching. His lecture on Friday night will be followed on Saturday morning by a short workshop aimed at showing how reflective practice can be integrated with social and political engagement.

These events will be of interest both to Buddhists who wish to put their insights into practice in a social or political context, and to activists who wish to bring clarity of vision to their activities through reflective "inner work".

Ken Jones is a noted Buddhist scholar, a former Marxist activist, the founder of the UK Network of Engaged Buddhists, and author of The New Social Face of Buddhism.
