The Greens and Lowry - Time for more political fellatio ?

category galway | politics / elections | opinion/analysis author Thursday January 14, 2010 15:05author by donkylemore - none Report this post to the editors

Dilettantes dallying with the urgent pulse of power in the Loins

where to the Greens now . the party of probity and ethical standards in high places
will they seek to have Lowry removed or will they continue to linger on in power with FF with Lowry's guarantee to follow the govt. whip/

THE GREENS AND POLITICAL FELLATIO

Probity in government or Power in the pants - Is that a gun.. Or are you just pleased ?

Odd that Michael Lowry should come out one today’s One o clock news to denounce the findings of the Moriarty Tribunal .
That he should seek to get his retaliation in first might suggest to the cynic that Mr Lowry is aware that there may be some disparaging comment coming down the track in a matter of some hours now.
The tribunal has been sitting for over a decade . Lowry has had a full legal team ( paid for by whom ?) at his side for each of its sittings or as many sittings as he choose or concerned him .
Lowrys legal bill is estimated at circa 40 milliol
. He now states that undue process is being meted against him as he has some new material he wishes to disclose at this the 13 th hour .
This is coming from a man who deceived the tribunal by denying he had ever had an offshore account . It was later proven he had 4 .
This miscreant was returned to the Dail by the people of N Tipperary in what can only be described as the greatest display in gombeenism seen in Irish politics in quite some time.
This was the man who stood shoulder to shoulder with John Bruton saying he was his best friend for ever . Mr Bruton ‘s countenance and affable demeanor on that occasion might have deserted him , but as his toes curled up he managed a wry smile . Later Lowry was expelled from FG
He then entered a pact with FF - who else? And has adhered to the party whip since the last election. This is one of those appalling pacts whereby an independent TD can barter to get greater concessions for his constituents that were he a member of a party. In other circles it would be called naked bribery but we seem to adhere to the Tip O Neills dictum that ‘’ all politics is local , so it’s a win win win.
The difficulty arises when the Greens are asked to swallow association with Lowry in any shape or form.
The Greens - remember them- they were the messiahs all subsumed with zealotry to bring back integrity into Irish politics - yes these greens who rolled over on the Tara Hill project , on waste management , on the abolition of an Seanad ,( which they disparagingly referred to as’’ a crèche or a geriatric home - viz their web site- and whose latest member O Brolochan who got 0.7 % of the vote in Galway is now comfortably sitting on 90 + K p/a + expenses ) - yes those greens .
Will they roll over again and accept this miscreant’s support. Or will they seek to have him removed from the House forever ?
Well let me tell you . I’m not rushing out to Terry Rogers.
Sergeant , Gormley , Ryan have got so used to the role of dilettantes dallying with the racing pulse of power ; No .
FF will say ’down’ and the Greens will be up for more political fellatio.
