You could have probably have thanked them both personally.
it would appear,on the offchance you are actually a grown man , youve just missed a golden opportunity to say sweet feck all . And at the start of the new year too . At least you cannot be accused of being inconsistent .
Exactly what it says on the Tin .
While the wording on the opening introduction seems honest enough and must in all fairness be commended , i dont see the point of 'we are all in this together scenario' when the O.S. goes on to state 'the fight against drugs etc' what exactly is meant is beyond moi.
This Government has effectivly sent the people indoors with the now infamous badly thought out Smoking Ban which was instigated by the hospitality industry who screamed they did NOT WANT to work in an envirnoment where persons smoked ,so we now have thousands of the latter walking around getting all the clean air that they want , but are now unemployed as a direct result of such a ridiculous idea , ok . Go to any off license and buy your booze for consumtion at home where, you, or i, can then in the comfort of our home drink ourselves in to obliviation should we so succumb to the relatively cheap price of booze...Gone is the conversation which was an art form over a pint of Guinness and a cigarette or ten , gone is the watchful eye towards our elderly neighbours who may have dropped into the pub just for the few drinks and a bit of company ...And as for drugs well of course there is an increase of consumption and an increase of young people becoming local dealers will escalate in certain areas of already high unemployment as soon as the new 'jobseekers allowance' is pushed through with all its terms and conditions attached....Gone is the purchace of new clothing as a result of people becoming house hatchers and who are already going through the motions of 'Cabin Fever' with, in some cases, just the Television to look towards for company...
We need people to move around in order this economy should thrive once again ,that is why the taxi men are already complaining of very little business simply because we are generally content to stay at home....Should the smoking ban be reversed is something i would not know about but what i do know is we are now a nation of selfish people who are hooked on cheap drink and dodgy hashish amongst other 'things' that are available .
How we should address such issues is really one for the professors of social ethics , But, be aware of the danger ahead of a society who seem to have lost the trust of each other simply because we were fooled into accepting an outright smoking ban with no debate whatsover except 'little trinkits' cleverly slotted in to remind us of the danger of tobacco consumption and the high cost to the health service 'should we continue' whereas now we are heading for more expensive health costs and as the old cliche will tell us, 'Time Will Tell'....
Lest we forget the danger's of boozing in a family envirnoment ,too numerous to mention here but the contributers to Indymedia Ireland will certainly 'see what i am saying' on that score...
