There's method in Trump's tariff madness, says Ramesh Thakur. Uniting his America First, anti-Net Zero and anti-DEI policies is an imperative to untangle the US from strategic dependence on an ascendant China.

Demo Against Cuts to Child Benefit on Budget Day

category dublin | rights, freedoms and repression | event notice author Monday December 07, 2009 14:47author by PACUB - Protest Against Child Unfriendly Budget Report this post to the editors

As media speculation intensifies that child beneift is to be cut by 10%, members of PACUB (Protest Against Child Unfriendly Budget) will gather outside Buswell's hotel on Wednesday next at 5.30pm. PACUB is urging fellow parents and members of the public who support their campaign against cuts to child benefit to join them.

A spokesperson for PACUB, Treasa Dovander said "we believe the government have choices and options in this budget that would avoid the need to target children. We have seen that via the budget submissions from Fine Gael, Labour and Sinn Fein. Instead of investigating ways around cutting child benefit, this government seems obsessed with cutting the only remaining support that the government gives to families."

Anyone who is not in the vicinity of Dublin but who would like to support this campaign are asked to blow their car horn at 5.30pm and to ensure that they visit the consitutency offices of the TDs - especially FF and Greens to express their concerns about the cuts.

More information is available from the PACUB Facebook group or you can email protest4childbenefit [at] gmail.com

Families need to come together to fight these cuts. If its 2% 5% or 10% this year it sets a precedent, next year they will cut more and cut more. Our children have been robbed of investment to prop up Zombie banks. It is disgraceful. Please parents don't be complacent come out and show your support.
