"Dogs as canines are generally not classed as livestock."
Actually, they are.

The French eat horse, Indians consider eating cows to be sacrilegious, we consider eating dogs and cats to be wrong. The thought of eating dog turns my stomach but it is a bit rich to be protesting an embassy as Dave said. Especially as this gastronomic choice isn't endemic to Korea.

There is a traditional french dish that involves boiling a live baby starling in brandy, then stuffing it which is then eaten whole, bones and all (soft as they are young). Supposedly so horrific to watch someone eat that you are required to wear a hood while eating it so no one can see.
But, in general, it is a bad idea to cook anything alive and a good idea to painlessly and quickly kill an animal as stress releases all kinds of toxins and bad stuff into the meat. So I doubt that that is how they are 'often killed' as besides being inhumane, it is bad cooking practice.
Of course when I so clearly infer that I know the taste of rabbit, I feel obliged to further confess that the bunny had no eyes because it was in the final throes of myxamotisis. & lest you think I am predator hungry for more than a snack of rehydrated noodles fecked out of my local supermarket, let me make it absolutely clear that the cat I ate,(in a stew), had been a victim of careless human motorist driving on a winter's day. The stewed cat's erstwhile human companion, who had had the temerity to describe himself as its owner, found it squashed in the hoary frost which ensures that roadkill in Ireland is more edible than in Mediterranean climes.
it's a story & i tell it.
I am only writing to offer the information that the Korean don't eat cats. It is freedom of speech however, you have to be certain on the issue you are protesting.
