If politicians want to solve the U.K.'s endemic worklessness they must talk to people in supermarket cafés, for in those humble haunts of the lowly leisured all will be revealed, says Joanna Gray.

"Surely Parliament will get the chance to vote on the WHO Pandemic Treaty," has been a common refrain. Not according to the Government, which repeatedly refused to assure MPs they would get a say on the binding agreement.

Republican Socialism Today

Good afternoon,

We Le Cheile Saor the fresh, new political organisation based in county kildare, are glad to announce after our first annual general meeting held in the corner house in Clane county Kildare, we the members have decided to begin our campaign to the people of Ireland against the the Lisbon Treaty, mark two from the 1st of July up untill the people of Ireland hit the ballot boxes for the second time on an unanounced date in October, after the disgracefull act by the 26 county goverment of re-running it against the will of the Irish people, who already voted against this treaty and significantly defeated the yes vote by over 300,000 votes.Somehow we think if it had of been the other way around and the yes vote had won by that margin would the 26 county goverment re-run the treaty? We think not.The people have spoken loud and clear on this treaty and we think 300,000 votes is loud enough. We Le Cheile Saor vow to work tirelessly on the streets of Kildare/Leinster to cry out to the people once again to reject this treaty for what it is.We will be holding protests and leaflet drops mainly in towns across Kildare, also Tallaght,Dunboyne,Portlaoise and Dublin City centre as we have members from these area`s.Below we have ten quick points on why we want the people to vote NO once again.

(1) VAT, which is an EU imposed tax (although the money goes to our own government), cannot be scrapped or drastically reduced under EU law. If we had the authority to scrap or significantly reduce VAT, which EU law forbids, it would increase public spending which would increase overall tax revenue in the form of increased corporation tax etc received by the exchequer.

(2) Remember a thing called “Guaranteed Irish” where we had a little “g” on products produced in Ireland? Well guess what – that was scrapped because the EU told us so! We can no longer be sure that we are buying an Irish product and keeping the money in our own economy.

(3) To stimulate growth in the economy we need to reduce the value of our currency. Since we now use Euro we cannot do so.

(4) EU law forbids us from borrowing over a certain amount of money. This means we cannot borrow enough money to “buy” our way out of the current recession.

(5) By guaranteeing deposits in Irish banks (which we needed to do), we were in direct violation of EU law – again – this is more direct control from Brussels and we will probably be fined for guaranteeing the deposits in the future.

The EU is nothing more than a noose around the neck of our economy and our country as a whole.

[6]Further militarisation of the EU, with each member state contributing to an overall EU military capacity, which will work in close conjunction with NATO – effectively ending the concept of Irish neutrality.

]7[The removal of national vetoes in around 50 policy areas and an extension of the areas under which decisions are taken by qualified majority, particularly in policing and judicial affairs.

]8[A reduction in the number of commissioners from 27 to 18, with the simultaneous strengthening of the role of president of the European Commission.

]9[The recognition of the EU as having a legal personality, entitling the EU to conclude, in its own right, agreements and treaties in the name of all member states.

]10[A reduction in the voting strength of the Twenty-Six Counties, and other smaller states, thus giving more power to larger states.

STATEMENT ENDS.

Irish Republican Socialist Party, eirigí, Sinn Féin, Republican Sinn Féin, 32 County Sovereignty Committee, Republican Network for Unity and now Le Chéile Saor.

I'm delighted to see the new organisation emphasises republican unity.

however many there are one thing is sure, there will be even more as the unity project has shown itself instead to be an impetus for fracture. unity is one hell of a misnomer. even after years of the adverse effects of the weakness of this project have not stemmed the promotion of it leaving anyone with a bit of sense to question the actual motives of those behind it.

The unity project is only up and running 18 months so i dont know where your getting your years from. There was close to 500 at one meeting a few months ago in Derry.not bad for a meeting and a project up and running only a year and a half.
