Boycott Israel- Boycott M&S

Boycott Stickers placed in Dublin stores

Just before today's march in support of the people of Gaza, a number of activists marked the shelves of the Marks and Spencer's stores in Dublin with stickers bearing the slogan: Stop the Slaughter in Gaza- Boycott Israeli Goods.

Although not everything for sale in M&S comes from Israel, the company has a unique relationship with the Zionist state, judging support for the country as a fundamental business objective.

As Naomi Klein argues in her article from thenation.com (reprinted in the Guardian today), Israel's leaders can be comfortable that there is no economic cost to their genocidal actions in Palestine. The Israeli stockmarket has actually risen since the attack on Gaza began.
marks_and_spencer.jpg

The time for using a boycott as a strategic weapon against the Zionists is now- companies who support the Israeli nation in their attacks on Palestinians should be avoided. A small trade dependent nation like Israel is very vulnerable to a boycott campaign, she says. This argument is agreed by many on the Left, not least those in Israel itself. You can read Naomi Klein's article here: http://www.thenation.com/doc/20090126/klein?rel=hp_curr...ently

Today's protest in M&S in Dublin ended when the security guards in the store called the Gardaí who arrived and forcefully arrested one of the demonstrators and charged him with damaging Marks and Spencer property.

Well done. This should only be the beginning. Even my right leaning father has become utterly disgusted at the so called crisis, or mass murders in Gaza. He rang me today from Cork, excited, to tell me about the protest there and he proudly told me he avoided Israeli goods when he went shopping. We need to step up the pressure and let the world know.........

IRELAND WILL NOT STAND BY, AND LET THIS MASSACRE GO WITHOUT CONSEQUENCES. WE NEED TO BOYCOTT THEIR APARTHEID GOODS AND BE THE FIRST EUROPEAN COUNTRY TO KICK THE AMBASSADOR OUT!!!

Someone on indymedia once commented that they have a novell way of boycotting israeli goods. Just collect them in your basket when you're shopping and then leave them on random shelves as a gesture to the supermarket.. It's a way to let the shop know you don't want these blood-stained goods. They'll get tired of the extra trouble of having to return the products to the right shelves and realise it's less trouble to simply not stock them.
I thought it was a brilliant idea whoever thought of it - thank you!
I don't know if this is a form of civil disobedience but I'm gonna do it anyway. The lives of those innocent children who are now either dead or maimed have to mean something.

Apparently, Eirigí members protested and "blockaded" stalls selling Dead Sea produce in the Castle Court Shopping Centre in Belfast prior to the march and rally there today and, afterwards, they then went to Marks and Spencers main store in the city centre, closing down all the checkouts and causing further disruption there.

That's the BIG campaign in action.

Great action. I Know that last friday the Derry Anti War Coalition people and others did a Supermarket Trolley full of Israeli goods action similar to the one described above at Tescos, M&S and Sainsbury's, I think.

Where can we get stickers like that? They'd come in handy in Derry.

Great work! & Thanks for the boycott list, Conor.

In Barcelona yesterday there was between 100 to 175 thousand marchers at the city protest. The official poster called for the Israeli boycott, the call was also mede in the post march speeches in Placa St Jaume after, it was also discussed prior to the demo in the occupied main university from outside of which the demo started. Also yesterday a free paper was distributed widely to the public explaining the logic and tactics of the boycott, i enclose a photo of other groups / brands to boycott that have not been included in above list, names to be added to the shamefull M&S: GAP, Kmart, C&A, Nike, Hugo Boss, Polo Ralph Lauren, Sara Lee, Vicious Secret, Warnaco...I wonder how much stolen water is used in those facrtories production processes??

the online version of that paper with its article about boycotting Israel, its in Catalan, if you have spanish you should be able to get most of the gist...
http://www.scribd.com/word/full?id=9934517&access_key=k...ehzux

from the Catalan Palestine support network, check out page 5 for photo from Galway under international solidarity
http://www.palestina.cat/index.php?option=com_content&v...ng=en

The article points out how successful was the boycott of the then apartheid state of South Africa, regarding the role that we all play in this process of changing the world, id like to add Christy Moores retelling of the tale about that boycott, when Dunnes Stores were sacked due to boycott solidarity actions: Dunnes Stores, see and listen to end for direct youtube vid. Christy cant remember all the lyrics, would be good to try to get them...
http://es.youtube.com/watch?v=aMhKWdMF5oo

Cant remember where I heard this song, I remember the strike well, the courage and persistence of a small group of Dunnes workers in the face of intimidation, ridicule, violent threats, and apathy from most of their fellow cicizens
http://www.christymoore.com/lyrics_tabs_detail.php?id=136

It is also important to point out, as I did yesterday to my friends at the demo that the word and action of boycott comes from our own island with its tales of missery, slaughter and crimes against humanity, Ireland:
The word boycott entered the English language during the Irish "Land War" and is derived from the name of Captain Charles Boycott, the estate agent of an absentee landlord, the Earl Erne, in County Mayo, Ireland, who was subject to social ostracism organized by the Irish Land League in 1880.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boycott

The last thing id like to add, as I did at end of yesterdays pre demo discussion is that there is, or should be, another demand added to the boycott and the general "stop the war coalition(s)", that being
Demand the immediate expulsion of all Israeli embassadors to countries who are outraged by the massacre.
Demand the calling home of ambassadors to Israel.
Demand the cutting of political ties with Israel untill the slaughter ends!!!

Venezuala has expelled their ambassador, Ireland has made as yet unacted upon call, UK has done the same, Jordan has recalled its Israeli ambassador.
Government TD calls for Expulsion of Israeli Ambassador : IPSC should do same.
http://www.indymedia.ie/article/90435

regards and thanks to all in ireland who are doing what they can.

If you write an address to send stickers to on this thread some kind activist might send you some in the mail- The address of a friendly bookshop or office that can take them for you would be better than your home address.

OR

if you have access to color printing at work or college here's a sticker you can print off yourself. Your work stationary cupboard is probably full of labels. Very basic Word skills are all that is needed.

right click to save image

open Microsoft Word

Choose -Insert Menu

choose -Picture

choose -from file

Insert picture of sticker and adjust size to suit labels (you may have to turn picture menu on but it should appear by itself when you click on the picture)

Change format to "tight" in picture menu

Copy and paste stickers to suit layout of labels

Print

was talking to members of the Republican Network for Unity and 32 csm yesterday who particpated in the in store protests organised by the Derry AWC and Eirigi in Derry and Belfast respectively and they definitely seem to have gone well .
If the same stigma can be attached to Israeli goods in the public consciousness as that of apartheid South Africa it may well hasten the demise of the zionist state as a project alongside the equally barbarous apartheid south africa project . Both being projects from the same unprogressive era .

In both instances though the British police have attempted to intervene and have aggressively questioned activists pushing laden trollies as to whether they intend buying them or not . Might one suggest a response to any such questions along the lines of " what section are you questioning me under officer ?" . The filth simply dont have the right to come into a supermarket and ask people about their intended purchases . Pointing this out to them politely does no harm at all .

Dear Futility,

Please listen to and think about the story form Dunnes Stores. South African apertheid ended due to swell of world pressure, part of which was the successfull tool of boycott, including our Irish rugby team as well as our Dunnes' hero Mary Manning. As people have noticed it worked then, surely it can work now. Every action, be it sticker stuck on fruit and veg section in M+S or 100,000+ marching in the streets allows people, or maybe forces people, to think about the situation and prompt a small step to take to change things. Little steps matter, the boycott is growing, it will take time, but the massacre can be ended. Hopefully after all this finally stops more people will be more aware of the present plight for Palestinians, and with that maybe those who took their first steps by, perhaps, not selecting that lemon, will play a deeper part in making a better world...

I hope that is what will happen, it can happen, try it!

And just remember what Margeret Mead said:

Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it's the only thing that ever has.

I then went into Superquinn with a basket, put all of the herbs etc into the basket and moved them all over the store and left a few leaflets beside them. After that I went to Dunnes stores and had a word with the manager. I made her tell me she would personally acknowledge the moral obligation not to stock Israeli goods to her boss. NUS National Union of Students in Britain NEC believes

1. That a boycott of Israeli academic institutions demonises Israel by singling it out for special treatment. Israel is in occupation of the Palestinian territories; but the US and UK are in occupation of Iraq, and no-one is calling for AUT members to boycott American universities or withdraw from their jobs at British ones! Israel is guilty of human rights violations, but advocates of a boycott are not calling for a boycott of China, a totalitarian state where no democratic rights exist and the labour movement is totally suppressed.

2. That the comparison repeatedly drawn with apartheid South Africa is wrong. Israel should withdraw from the Occupied Territories and concede the Palestinians' right to a state of their own, but Israel itself is not an illegitimate state.

3. That, therefore, a boycott will undermine Israeli academics who support Palestinian rights, and hinder the building of bridges between Israelis and Palestinians. We oppose an academic and cultural boycott that treats Israeli Jewish thinkers as though they were responsible for the sometimes brutal actions of the Israeli government.

NUS NEC therefore resolves

1. To oppose the boycott of Israeli academic institutions.
2. To immediately issue a statement to this effect.
3. To work with the AUT members campaigning to reverse their union's policy on this issue.
4. To reaffirm our policy on Israel-Palestine: Israeli withdrawal from the Occupied Territories, a fully independent Palestinian state in the West Bank, Gaza and East Jerusalem, solidarity with the Palestinians and Israeli internationalists.

But which ever faction has taken over the students union doesnt really concern us over here . In my personal opinion the zionist state is a murderous and aggressive menace to its neighbours and always will be . Academics dont run Israel and never will , thats the reality . Nor will israel ever permit the people it ethnically cleansed to return to their homes . The sooner this genocidal colonial project ceases to exist the better off the world will be . The sooner a worldwide boy cott of its products , businesses and insttituions - whether acadameic or sporting begins the better . The right of palestinians and lebanese to live and breathe outweighs the right of colonialism to persist in the middle east.

I feel that there will have to be put in place, a structure/organisation for e.g. Region-Area-town if you get my drift.
Also the importers of this tat some groundwork will have to be done to assertain who they are.
If some one could draft a letter for the the purposes of standardisation, this letter could be given to the various Stores/Managers this will give them a more comprehensive idea about the whole tragic human disaster.
Letter could be posted here for copy, and print.

"Coca-Cola faces Malaysian boycott
by Kenny Lim 12-Jan-09, 10:53

KUALA LUMPUR - Over 2,000 Muslim restaurants in Malaysia have removed Coca-Cola from their menus as part of a boycott of US products to protest Israel’s bombardment of Gaza and subsequent US support.

The nationwide boycott began on 9 January and is led by the Malaysian Muslim Consumers Association with support from the Muslim Restaurant Operators Association.

Besides Coca-Cola, 100 other American brands and products including Starbucks, Colgate, McDonald’s and Maybelline will also be targeted.

A spokesperson from the Muslim Consumers Association of Malaysia said its latest protests would “teach a lesson to Israel and its allies”.

Fuelling the boycott further is former Malaysian premier, Mahathir Mohamad, who has also urged employees of McDonald’s and Starbucks to resign from their jobs while calling on his countrymen to stop using the American dollar and USproducts.

Coca-Cola has since responded by stating that the American firm and its bottling partners do not support any country, government and political or religious causes and that the current Malaysian boycott could hurt business.

"As with everybody else, we are deeply touched by the human side of the situation in the Middle East," said Kadri Taib, public affairs and communications director for Coca-Cola Malaysia, in a statement.

"Given the local nature of our business, we believe that calls for boycotts of our products are not the appropriate way to further any causes, as they primarily hurt the local economy, local businesses and citizens.”

The soft drink giant further added that 60 per cent of its workforce in Malaysia, or 1,700 employees, were Muslim. The US is also Malaysia’s top trade partner after Singapore.

One regional public relations head has recommended that Coca-Cola immediately distance its brand from local politics and issues. “Mahathir is pulling iconic brands into politics and they would do well not to be sucked in.”

He added that Coke could start leveraging local communities and meetings such as “local mosque heads and Malay-language publications and blogs” to do damage control while also leveraging “supportive Chinese consumers”.

Another source warned that it is “difficult to look into the crystal ball or predict” if similar boycotts would be staged in neighbouring countries including Singapore or Indonesia.

“Because of social media, the potential is there. But people must stop and analyse if the information being fed to them is accurate. What we’re seeing in Malaysia is largely down to fear and emotion which is sad as they’re moving away from the issues at the core of it all [the Israeli assault on Gaza].”

A brand consultant added that Coke has its own brand agenda and is not the political brand that people would make it out to be. He added that if the company sticks to its core values which are centred on wholesomeness, the company will eventually survive this latest episode. "

ACTION ALERT: FAX ISRAEL
Haitham Sabbah

*** PLEASE SPREAD WIDELY ***

After the successful email campaign, it's time to move to the next level: calling some of the war criminals.

Objectives of this campaign are as follows:

1. Bombard their phone/mobile/fax lines with anti-war, anti-Zionist messages. This can be in the form of calls, faxes or even sms's;
2. Waste the time of these war criminals as much as possible. Some of them are doing nothing else but jumping on the TV screens to spread lies and hatred. They justify killing Palestinian children and civilians;
3. Directly delivering to them the message that we are disgusted by what they are doing and they should stop now;
4. Show them the magnitude of support that Palestinians have after the world witnessed their war crimes in Gaza.

Let's start with war criminal, Mark Regev, International Media Adviser to the Prime Minister.

His MOBILE number is: +972-5-0620-3264 and his office number is +972-2670-5354
If you like to follow your call/sms with an email, use this one:
mark.regev@it.pmo.gov.il

Second war criminal, Shlomo Dror in the Ministry of Defence.
His MOBILE number is +972-5-0629-8148, office number is +972-3697-5339, fax number is +972-2670-5602
As before, if you like to follow it up with an email, use this:
mediasar@mod.gov.il

Third war criminal is Major Liebovitz from the Israeli Navy
His MOBILE number is +972-5-781-86248
(Sorry, I could not find his email. If you have it, please share it to update this post.)

If you know or come across any mobile number* of any Israeli war criminal, please send it to (haitham.sabbah@gmail.com) so that I can update the list here. Meanwhile, you can bombard the top war criminal, Olmert and his office assistance, managers, spokesperson, etc… Please visit the following page to select the name that you like to play with and pick his/her office number and/or fax number.
http://www.pmo.gov.il/PMOEng/PM+Office/Contacts/

Note: To call or fax any in the above list, remove the "zero" and add +972 (Israel Int'l code) before the number. (Example: Ehud Olmert's phone number is 02-670-5555 will become +972-2-670-555, fax number is 02-670-5475 will become +972-2-670-5475)

I suggest that you put your feelings on paper either by drawing or as a letter (in any language, in fact using other than English language will keep them busier and waste more of their time, which we want) and fax it to the maximum fax numbers you find there, but phone calls are still very important if you can.

More? Yes, you can do more. Call or fax the current Knesset members. Go to the following link, select any name and you will find their phone and fax numbers. Again, to call or fax any, remove the "zero" and add +972 before the number. (Example: Benjamin Netanyahu (a.k.a. Bibi the butcher!) phone: 02-6408456 will become +972-2-6408456 and his fax number is 02-6496659 which becomes +972-2-6496659)

Knesset members:

Also Knesset Directory (add +9722 before the numbers you find here):
http://www.knesset.gov.il/description/eng/eng_directory.htm

To: The Israeli Ministry of Defense, Fax: +972-3-697-6717
To: The Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Fax +972-2-5303367

Last but not least, share a copy of your fax with others. Please post your fax on this flickr group:

http://www.flickr.com/groups/fax-israel/

PS. Feel free to do the same with any and all pro-Israel war on Gaza. You can start with:

White House (although they are busy backing up there files, but we can only hope that Obama will get something to read and learn about on his first day in office):
http://www.whitehouse.gov/contact/

The Congress (which justed gave Israel new green light to kill kids and women of Gaza):
http://www.visi.com/juan/congress/

Be creative! Search for the contacts of your government official's website and contact them. Save Gaza!

Hello, fellow boycotters

I'm very pleased to have come across this site and see the movement really happening. We are finally realizing the power we, the citizens of any country really have.

As they say "People should not be afraid of their government however the government should be afraid of its people"

We are attempting to start something here in the US as well. The site www.StartTheBoycott.com is currently under construction. We intend to get this up and also we're producing a PSA. We'll need your help to get the word out. I want to thank each one of you who is standing up and taking action against this genocide. Enough is enough!!!! Taking a human life away is just plain out wrong regardless of colour and religion. Our coward leaders are not saying anything nor are they doing anything about it. Well it's time for change!

The holocaust should be a reminder to all that we should not let such an event repeat itself again. Well this is exactly what is happening...we stand united against the murdering of innocent life.

Good Luck

Wonderful the more who ring Israel the more profits for the local phone companies there I am sure.

Lets all celebrate the profits with a nice drink of Jaffa orange freshly squeezed from your local supermarket so we can keep the fruit pickers in their well deserved jobs so they can provide for their families.

It is good to spread the wealth around. The Irish have too much if they want to bombard other countries with phone calls and run up their bills and help boost the profits of the mobile companies here too. Such foolishness.

Shawney,

My advice would be to do your own research. Mr. Man’s Google search leads you straight into Israeli propaganda. A government website, a wikipedia entry (CAMERA is an organisation that updates wikipedia entries with Israeli propaganda) and a propaganda site about the middle east among others.
Get some information from both sides and maybe from somebody who is supposed to be neutral and ya might be there.

The year of the first Zionist immigration was 1299 (Muslim calendar), or 1881/2 of the Common Era. You can read for yourself that at that time there were 462,465 people living in Palestine: 403,795 Muslims; 43,659 Christians, and 15,011 Jews.

This map, based on land ownership statistics compiled by the British government in Palestine [for tax purposes and therefore highly accurate], summarizes the respective holdings of the Arab and Jewish communities in 1945.

It shows that the Jewish population of Palestine legally owned less than 7% of the land at that time.

How can you establish a Jewish state in a place where such a small fraction of the land is in Jewish hands, except by taking over that large proportion of the land that belongs to non-Jews?

This table shows the population of the two states that the UN proposed to create by partitioning Palestine - against the will of most of its people - in 1947. Despite large-scale Jewish immigration into Palestine under the British Mandate - again, against the will of a large majority of its existing population - Palestinian Arabs still comprised about two-thirds of the population of Palestine.

Even after drawing generous boundaries to ensure that the influence of Palestine's Jewish minority population is amplified by gathering almost all of the Jewish population into a single polity, the Palestinians' overwhelming numerical advantage means that the UN's "Jewish Palestine" is demographically not a Jewish state, but a bi-national state. It is called "the Jewish state" because it contains the overwhelming majority of Palestine's Jews, not because an overwhelming majority of its inhabitants are Jewish. Even worse from the Zionist perspective, Jewish Palestine is not only a bi-national state, but a bi-national state whose large Arab minority is guaranteed equal treatment under the terms of the partition.

Under those circumstances, how can you have the "Jewish state" that Zionism envisaged?

David Ben-Gurion said you couldn't, because

"There are 40% [actually 45%] non-Jews in the areas allocated to the Jewish state. This composition is not a solid basis for a Jewish state. And we have to face this new reality with all of its severity and distinctness. Such a demographic balance questions our ability to maintain Jewish sovereignty... Only a state with at least 80% Jews is a viable and stable state."

He also knew what kind of "severity and distinctness" was required to render 80% of the population Jewish, specifying that the Arab population "can either be mass arrested or expelled; it is better to expel them"

This table shows the population of Israel and the Occupied Territories in 2004, based on figures provided by the U.S. State Department's annual country report on human rights practices.

It show/proves that despite the exclusion of millions of Palestinian refugees, whom Israel continues to refuse to allow home, Palestinian Arabs once again outnumber Jewish Israelis in Israel and the Occupied Territories. Two-thirds of these Palestinians live as disenfranchised subjects of the Israeli government that rules over them, because allowing them voting rights equal to those enjoyed by Jewish residents of Israel and the Occupied Territories would democratically and non-violently end the racist Zionist experiment in Palestine.

The only way to maintain a Jewish state is by exiling millions of Palestinians for generation after generation, and keeping millions more disenfranchised in walled enclaves in the Occupied Territories where they can be massively bombed into compliance should they resist their collective exclusion from equal participation in governing their own homeland.

Until the 'Jewish State' (in reality merely a Zionist State) is abolished or changes dramatically from it's present racist fascist exclusionary incarnation, then this situation will inevitably continue until it reaches it's logical conclusion: all the area nominally under Zionist control being utterly cleaned, by expulsion or genocide, of it's original Palestinian inhabitants.

As usual all the supporters of Zionist racism have to offer are the usual screams of 'Nazi' or 'Anti-semite' - One would have thought that they would by now have realised that such attempts to slur are no longer really having the desired effect -

If publishing maps of land-ownership and population statistics makes one a Nazi. as you so ridiculously maintain, then that means every Professional Geographer, every Professional Statistician, every employee of the National Statistics Office of Ireland, indeed every employee of every National Statistics Office in every country in the world, is a Nazi - you Zionist racists really are pathetic

It is an indication of how desperate you are that you have to stoop so low - simple logic alone would dictate that desperate little attempts at shooting the messenger are completely unfounded - but then the ability to use logical reasoning is not really one of the pre-requisites for being a supporter of Zionist racism, and in fact it is likely to be a massive disadvantage when wrestling with the intricacies of the psychologically-twisted, fascistic Zionist ideology

You've just had your first and most important lesson in 'Zionist Logic'

"The first rule of Zionist-Logic is that . . . there IS NO Logic!"

But lets pretend, if only for a moment that there actually is some logic. Lets apply it.

The first thing you'd have to admit is that; if someone is a NAZI for answering your question, then YOU are a NAZI for even asking it in the first place.

This brings us to the 2nd rule of Zionist Logic

"Never EVER ask a question which might upset a Zionist. Even thinking about asking such a question makes YOU a NAZI!!!"

so applying some more Zionist Logic:

we are left in the situation that we much now admit that the US State Department, which produced some of the statistics/graphs used, is filled to the brim with NAZIS!!!!!!!

we are left in the situation that we much now admit that Israeli Professor Ilan Pappe, who produced some of the statistics/graphs, is a NAZI!!!!!!!

we are left in the situation that we much now admit that all the people who work fro the UN, which produced some of the statistics/graphs, are all also NAZIS!!!!!!!

So as you can see Shawney - when viewed through twisted logic of a Zionist, the whole world is filled to the brim with Nasty Nazis

Try to work in something about some oppressed minority in the hope of, through a process of association, garnering some sympathy to the Zionist cause.

For example: Bosnia is useful to a Zionist in this regard because there's still plenty sympathy for the Bosnians which you can milk, in order to con people into thinking of Zionists as innocent victims in each and every situation - but remember : they're NOT Jewish, so don't get too friendly.

When trolling web-sites with a predominately non-Jewish non-Israeli and non-US readership, try to con these foreigners by using some event from the historical past of that particular nation:

For example, when trying to con Irish people some reference to events in Northern Ireland might be useful to a Zionist in this regard, because there's still plenty anger over, and sympathy for, the discrimination which Catholic residents of Northern Ireland had to endure for decades, which you can milk, in order to con people into thinking of Zionists as innocent victims in each and every situation - but remember : they're NOT Jewish OR Israeli, so don't get too friendly.

If you edit your maps and figures to promote a single state in former British [Western] Palestine [because Palestine East of the Jordan is already an Arab state] you are flying in the face of the inhabitants who want a Jewish majority state AND an Arab majority state - especially after seven decades of: troubles, border reiving, wars and occupation.

This means that if you insist on the1949 border it follows that there have to be minorities within BOTH the two states even as there are minorities within Ireland and Northern Ireland. The same applied in 1947 over UN 181 but that was rejected as promised by the Arab parties in the months before UN181.

Since 1949 every peace proposal has been a two state solution but has never matured because the Arab parties always want what they could have had before - but in politics unlike soccer one does not return to a centre spot kick off. At the moment it is the PA which is refusing talks unless.... and it is the US elections in November when the dice spin again.

When you do get Palestine do not say you were not warned it will be another Arab dictatorship kicking out its minorities and grovelling for more foreign aid than ever - like Egypt, Iraq and Syria.

The last piece of Devil's Work does not have one fact - it is all opinion!

When "Antisemitism" (in 19th century Germany) was coined it was newspeak academese for Judenhass. Now as Sir Herbert Samuels quipped, " Antisemitism is hating Jews more than necessary;" and as Connor Cruise O'Brien quipped, " You do not have to be an Antisemite to be anti-Zionist, but it helps."

If you want to call the Arabs Semites for their language family fair enough; but swapping the premises to abuse your political hobby horse is not accurate dialectic - even if leaden false rhetoric.

The states that call themselves Arab states are dictatorships or feudal apologies. As a disgraceful embarrassment to all of us who prefer republican sympathies in the Franco-American tradition of The Enlightenment, the republics that are Arab states, members of the self named Arab League regardless of their inner distinctions are a poorer lot by any human development index you care to choose than the Arab monarchies. Even the UN report on the Arab world staffed by Arab dons agreed as much.

You do not seem to recognise that several Arab and generally Moslem ideas are medieval and so faulty by popular sovereignty - and Jewish Israelis also have rights of popular sovereignty. The Arabs in general and in Palestine in particular have lead themselves up the creek without a paddle through being too clever by half with playing both sides against the middle in international politics.

Wars and associated battlefield engineering are brutal, so what ? You rebuild and get on with the rest of your life as all Europe has done twice in a lifetime - and even Dublin after 1916 and 1921. You can have war, or peace, but you can not have a situation where one side is entitled to miltary warlike ops while the other side is confined to the niceties of peacetime policing with the judges' rules.

Who chose to reduce the Arab objection to Zionist settlement with open battle, if not the Arab parties in 1947? And depite the fact that the Arab population of British Palestine did very well out of the Zionist investment of £100 million in 1917 - 37 (Peel Report figure) and another similar British miitary spend in 1940 - 44. Multiply by fifty for minimal current values.

If Arabs in non-Israeli Palestine are having a harder time than the Arabs in Israel building villas up and down Galilee and the Carmel passes, then it might just be because they are unwilling to sign a peace of any sort - proof being that despite two years of Obama's US effort to promote talks it is the PA who have found the excuses NOT to talk. As such the current representatives of the Palestine Arabs by default are following six precedents and will suffer accordingly by misplacing their own will. Then they will again want to go back to the last offer!

When are you going to blame the silly Billy's for dragging the cloth and tea-kettle into their own laps - more than necessary? If you really loved Arab Palestine, think about stopping all aid or even threatening to - and within a month they would sign a peace and get their jobs and livings back and treat the fundamentalists as Erskine Childers deserved.

well, way to link to an antisemitic rant, there. Is that straight out of the pages of the Protocols? Diabolical nature of Israel, hey?

In fact, everything in that paragraph is entirely irrelevent. Keep the goys busy for days answering questions? I see no attempts to answer critical questions, just a lot of "I can't hear you!"s.

rule #1 in the Zionist Hasbara handbook:

if you cannot make a relevant coherent argument against
your opponent (and let's face it: you're a Zionist, coherence and logic
are not exactly prerequisites) , just scream 'Anti-Semitie!!" as often and as
loudly as possible, in the hope that people will not notice the blood

If people are going to go out and print stickers and stick them on products with the barcode 729,it is pointless really, there needs to be a co - ordinated project on this, not just an individual here and there..maybe placards erected in very hard to reach places outside supermarkets listing product names and not just numbers - but the option of both, along with sticker planting on certain food products.

Leaflets in letterboxes and asking shops to agree to a few left on their counter could raise the visibility of what israel are doing..

Having isolated protests here and there is not the solution being honest.
It can be difficult to classify some products as israeli as often times these products are shipped from israel and packed else where , like for example egypt and other middle eastern and european nations.

People need to be aware that any product or service from israel is often packed or re branded elsewhere..
Some people cannot even read so will not know about 'barcode 729',how do you get around that obstacle?
The main offending businesses need to be pointed out on the streets but also in their circles..

Once an Englishman said to a blarney spouting Irishman, "Why do you people always answer a question with a question ?"

To which the Irishman replied ,"Why not?"

Just spilling bile over Israel which has just found exportable quantities of off-shore gas (Methane CH4) is not going to help your Palestine "friends"; though all the powers have found these hundred years: with friends like that who needs enemies?

At Arab insistence there was no transit across the Green Line in 1949 - '67 but Israael permitted plenty in 1967 - 2003; when the Arab bomb campaign produced results its smarty pants planners had not considered - or if they did they cynically intended to use the suffering of their own people - not for the first time - as bent PR.

The dispute which went violent and warlike with the Arab rejection of UN 181 in 1947 can only be solved by return to the UN "two state " policy. All Israeli parties including the current Benjamin Netanyahu administration have declared as much. When did the current PA government do so by envisaging Arab Moslem Palestine alongside Jewish Israel? When did Hamas in Gaza come off its charter policy to destroy Israel? Which is the similar as the Ireland's problem with the "Real IRA."

Admittedly some of the Palestinian Arabs are living a rougher time than in the glory access years to the Israeli economy before Arafat's intifadas - but a lot less rough than most of the Third World - but the situation follows from the Arab desire to run a war of sorts against Israel and Arab politically unrealistic demands to be given a re-run of catches they deliberately dropped with scorn. In such a cleft stick would it not make Michael Collins sense for the Arabs to sign off a treaty and make something of the part of the Palestine loaf -Jordan and the West Bank - they actually hold?

Four fifths of the San Remo Palestine loaf is in the deserts of Hashemite Jordan which in case you forgot, Arafart did not. That is why he went for it in 1970. There is still a lot of heated discussion in some parts that Hussy should have been left to his fellow Arab wolves as was his Iraqi cousin. Look that up for how 'democratic' and 'peaceful' are Arab politics with Arabs never mind kaffirs of all stripes - and as for Arab civil strife .....

When you can not navigate the statistics and logic just insult the opponent even if the words "racist" and "islamophobia" and several others are inexact. Moslems are very proud of NOT being a race, language, or colour group and allege anybody who wishes to declare their belief in Islam's tenets can be a Moslem - but the tribal (sub) groups across the Moslem World are another kettle of fish as the nations of Christendom ditto.

Whoever coined "Islamophobia" for hating Moslems got it inside out because as the word stands it means fearing Moslems as in agoraphobia or arachnaphobia - which has a point, but not the one usually set on its use.

If you wish to preach criticism of nationalism check the rug you are standing on or join the "collapse of stout party" as Punch used to put it.

Still can't figure your problem with the word. You cannot just arbitrarily decide a word must have a specialised meaning, exclusive to your chosen ideology, and disparage anyone else's use of it that exposes other nuances. That leads to jargon and double-speak and denial of complexity.

Islamophobic hysteria would seem appropriate for the current whipping the culture-centre by the site of the Twin Towers is getting.
But then Obama is a Muslim according to the whippers and spinners and hasbara pumpers of the neo-con/Zion axis of pure and unadulterated pristine rectitude on all matters moral, ethical and politically kosher.

And then you have Romaphobia (not to be confused with the perfectly valid horror at the predations of the papal brethren on generations of kids across the globe)which seems to be gathering in intensity across Europe at present.
We should be cognisant of the fact that these nomadic people were in the front line of the Nazi racial purification ideology and many reckon they lost proportionatly more to the holocaust per capita than did even the vulnerable Jewish populations.
Pity the Zionists dont show a little solidarity with them, it might make their self-righteousness a little less repulsive.

for an inside account of how the rabbis flout civil law and any authority other than their self-appointed own. And it gets more fundamentalist by the day.

And you, Islamophobia up there, I've been in the region, including at the time of the Yom Kippur war, and found that their genuine hospitality extends far deeper than Ireland's 'hospitality industry'. I've also travelled in North African islamic countries, including with teenage kids, and met nothing but assistance, generosity and courtesy.
Your slanders are proof that 'ANY WESTERN FOOL' is not your best witness.

Bloodbath is right. Its the delicate job of extracting the Israeli infant from the filthy Zionist bathwater thats gonna be tricky.Like Adolf in his bunker, their are plenty of nut-jobs who would be only too happy to do a Samson on the region and pull the nuclear roof down on everyones head, and all in the name of righteousness. The suicidal warrior syndrome extends beyond the desperation of those indoctrinated in Saudi Wahhabism.

The good news is that the movements for sanity are growing, as they are in the US.

The bad news is there is not much sign of a trickle up effect to the powers that usurp the democratic will of the majorities.

Ex post facto legislation and moral high horsing is off side.

The Jewish return in numbers to the Holy Land - which is holy only because of Jewish history - started in the 19th century because it was 19th century development that made large movements possible. All Jewish land and other property was indisputeably bought till the Arab parties resorted to war.

When did any European settlers in the Americas or Australasia and Africa - inclusive the forty million of Irish descent - pay the native people's a brass farthing for any land? Or for that matter Mahommed pay anybody for his conquests?

Could some clever clogs tell us how the Jews of the thirties & forties could have helped the Roma when they could not save themselves in Nazi Europe? The Roma or gypsies are one of the unfortunates of the last hundred years and as Christopher Sykes pointed out in the conclusion of his "Crossroads to Israel" if they had the sort of organisation the Jews had they would have not been forgotten. One characteristic of the anti-Israel lobby's history is its totally gruyere cheese condition and well gnawed with it.

For that matter if the Armenians now have a state it will make things easier if Islamism gets worse as it has every indication of doing so with so many Iranian and Saudi petrodollars poured into it these thirty years.

"The sea is the same sea, and the Arabs are the same Arabs." Try pruning your own PR because as Dev explained to Churchill some of us have endured a long time and seen off the other imperialists and fashionable (politcal) whipping boys.

If you want cheap oil there is no free lunch and paying for UNWRA and Palestine and the weaponry of one lot of Arabs against another in the Cold War is all part of the oil price because if oil were not required you can bet your bottom dollar no US and €U funds would be have been paid for the Arabs to sustain their refugee game and the whole dispute would have faded in the fifties if the Soviets had avoided being drawn into resupplying defeated Arab armies ostensibly for super power games but to the only effective result of stoking the Arabs' private side show.

It might be something of a revelation to re-read the library press files of the last hundred years and note who initiated violence in the Arab vendetta with Israel? The Jews did not even turn on the British till the Holocaust was discovered in 1945 and from the viewpoint of Irish nationalists they were not unjustified in seeking independence from the British to take in their distressed kinsfolk survivors whom others were not in a hurry to absorb.
