A Hollywood animation of George Orwell's Animal Farm has turned the classic story into a critique of capitalism and corporate corruption with a billionaire villain and a happy ending.

offsite link Super Flu? More Like Super Hype Sun Dec 14, 2025 13:05 | Dr David Livermore
Present case numbers for the ?K? variant Super-Flu don't justify the hype, says Dr David Livermore. Perhaps it's the media lust for fear porn, or perhaps the Government's fear of the strike, but it's not a Super-crisis.

John Pilger on Radio One tonight (1st January) at 18.05

category international | arts and media | other press author Thursday January 01, 2009 15:28author by Miriam Cotton - MediaBite Report this post to the editors

'McGurk and Company' to include Pilger in programme

I don't now when this programme was planned but maybe the events in Palestine have caused some sort of editorial rethink at RTE.

It was not so long ago that RTE were inventing excuses for not showing Pilger's work. Perhaps his 25-year old documentary 'Palestine is still the issue' has finally begun to register with mainstream pundits and programme makers given current events in Gaza. Either way it will be interesting to hear what Pilger has to say and as just as importantly, what McGurk has to say to him.

Here's an easy link to RTE's page on "McGurk and company"
http://www.rte.ie/radio1/mcgurkandcompany/1248678.html

This broadcast is not up there yet but may appear in a day or two..who knows! ;-)
(Meanwhile you can preview Mcgurk's style by listening to him interviewing John Simpson, BBC Foreign Correspondent)

You'll need realplayer or something similar to listen to rte stuff like this. Here's a link to the cruft free version (Real alternative):

(The official realplayer software clogs up your computer with crap and I wouldn't trust it not to do sneaky shit!!)

Here's a link to that interview for anyone who'd like to hear it. It pre-dates the current Gaza debacle so sadly it doesnt reflect his views on that. In fact comment from Pilger is conspicuous in its absence, come to think of it. Nothing on his website and there hasn't been the usual NS column either. Hmmm.
