![]() The Ireland Palestine Solidarity Campaign has called a National Demonstration in solidarity with Gaza for this Saturday 3rd January. The protest will begin with speeches at 1pm at the Central Bank Plaza, we will then march to the Dail (Kildare Street), the EU Offices (Molesworth Street), and finish up with a rally at the Spire on O'Connell Street - which will feature a live phone-link to Gaza. The slogan we will be moibilising around is simple "Free Gaza: Stop the Slaughter! End the Siege!" The death toll in Gaza now stands at over 360 with countless more injuries, and the Israeli Government has vowed "long weeks of action" in the area, with the likelihood of of a full ground invasion. We in Ireland must take action to oppose the ongoing brutal assault on a defenceless people - the IPSC is calling on all political parties, civil society groups, trade unions, and ordinary people to build and mobilise for Saturday's demo. |

Jump To Comment: 1A large crowd estimated of 1,500 -2,000 marched to the Israeli embassy on a cold day in Dublin. Thats only about 1% of the Population of Dublin alone, is this not a disgraceful turn out? In Barcelonas demo yesterday there about 100 times as much people who turned out on a cold evening, the population of BCN is about twice that of Dublin... Is there something im missing here? Im not sure how many thousands turned out for the previous Dublin demo after new years?

Perhaps a related thread on IMC-IE about the politics of politics ie- why some march, why some dont, why some feel political parties are not welcome, leap frog tactics of left groups going for poll position, infighting of the Irish left....etc:

possible addition to IPSC demands:
* I call on the Irish government to request the expulsion of the Israeli ambassador to Ireland, Dr Zion Evrony, and the full closure of the Israeli embassy untill a full cesesation of hostilities is recognised.
Government TD calls for Expulsion of Israeli Ambassador : IPSC should do same.
