A month after the arrival of Scotland's Hate Crime Act and it appears reports of the demise of the Scottish Enlightenment may have been premature, no thanks to the SNP but due to the doughty spirit of the Scots.

The Green Party Forge A New Relationship with ‘Private’ Education in Cork

A new garden make over for one of Cork's exclusive private school says it all about the Green Party
A garden make-over for one of Cork 'exclusive' private schools
A garden make-over for one of Cork 'exclusive' private schools

This is the week in which we will see the Green Party take part in the nasty business of trying to push through the education cuts announced in the budget. There is a theory going around that once again they have been ‘caught out’ by ‘cute’ Fianna Fail and are having to do the dirty work for them once again. Don’t believe it for a minute! Rather, dear reader, take a look at this ‘lovely’ story that comes to you all the way from Cork. A sweet story, really. And one that is sure to change your perspective and may even warm the cockles of your heart in these austere times.

The school in these pictures is none other than Scoil Mhuire on Wellington Road in Cork. Now Scoil Mhuire is not just any old school. In Cork it is renowned for its exclusive, ‘private status’. Not just anyone can go to this school – rather you must pay big money to get your little darling into its hallowed class rooms. It’s a ‘lady’s’ college, dear reader, where inequality is not just preserved but fostered for generations to come.

On an average school morning the big problem around Scoil Mhuire is the grid lock caused by the Range Rovers, SUVs and People Carriers that descend on this small coerner of Cork city in the run in to 9 am. It truly is a sight to behold: this is not global warning territory, it is global heat wave territory as the big guzzlers drive right up to the front door, morning after morning, to drop their darling in for school.

But does that bother the Green Party in Cork? Does it bother them that Scoil Mhuire is a school that actively promotes inequality? Obviously not as only last week the Green Party – see the pictures – decided to bestow on Scoil Mhuire a garden makeover. So for Dan Boyle and the Green Party in Cork, the watch word now, it seems, is to make life prettier for the rich and privileged in the city. Ah sure these are tough times, I suppose.
Truly a joy to see. The Green Party have come a long way: not just supporting inequality in the Dail but even making it look pretty out on the streets. How sweet.

The Greens in Ireland are a disgrace to their country & to the people who voted for them on the issues they once used to support before getting their snouts in the trough; they're also a disgrace to Greens everywhere, reducing their credibility by association.

The Present Green Party Are Just Learning How To Shut Up By The Old Croney's Who Still Call Ze Shot's In Fianna Fail.

Surely That Is Quite Evident After The Budget OF All Budget's Which Said Budget Has Bitten Back........

Pensions Is The Buzz Word In The Dail Nowaday's , People Power Has Seen To That ,And The Green's Are Running Scared...

What Ever Happened To The PDs Over 20 Years's Is Being ''Condensed'' Into Months For Gormley And Co.

Michael Mc.Dowell Has Been Proven Right Already.................

The blue-grey man Mr Gormley has said that "The Green Party are in government for the long haul".

Which indicates that the Green Party negotiated with FF and neglected their Principles for Power.

Even when given a second chance via the budget controversy, to re-adhere to their policies they choose 'power over'.

By this action have shown themselves to be an immature political party incapable of adhering to their own chosen principles.

Thus they have left the non-party greens like myself & others non-plussed, neglected and bitter.

And it will be a long, long time before I or others are conned into voting green again!

I notice that the plants are all imports - no native species. I wonder how many air miles they travelled and at what cost to the planet.

Presumably these imports weren't buying pints or shorts and were sleeping on the streets ? - I doubt that !

If you look at that other island what do we find whole ghettos of of names foreign to that country, try say Liverpool or ,
Manchester, yea even in Kilburn in London large populations of blow-ins (or imports as you say)
Why are they still there why don't they return to their home country ?

In reply to Blather .
And why should the ''imports'' return to their Mother Country when the same people have gotten here by hook or by crook .
''They Work Hard'' to a tune we would not adhere to, and while we covet our own insecurities its about time we Irish begin to make our minds
up as to what we ,as Irish people, are prepared to endure .
Try being patient with the flow of people who are basically trying to create a better life for themselves and family members, and understand
the sheer incompetance of Government agencies in the area of '' Bully Boy Tactics'' handed down by old farts of Ministers hell bent on
appeasing ''Brussels'' and the European Image which is Soooo important to Ireland's Image abroad ,and eff the Social Consequences to
follow. Its the way immigration was handled that sticks in Irish Persons Inbox not to forget the sheer Arrogance Of Attitude Towards Irish
People that is at the core of ''Deep Rooted Insecurities'' of one form or other that will prove ,sooner rather than later to be our downfall.
