Adamsite 'Protest' Cannot Disguise Pro-British Credentials - RSF

category antrim | anti-war / imperialism | press release author Sunday October 19, 2008 14:21author by Richard Walsh - Republican Sinn Féin Report this post to the editors

Provo plans to protest a parade glorifying British aggression throughout the world is an exercise in hypocrisy, a spokesman for Republican Sinn Féin has said.

Provo plans to protest a parade glorifying British aggression throughout the world is an exercise in hypocrisy, a spokesman for Republican Sinn Féin has said. It was revealed that Adamsites intend to oppose the so-called “homecoming” parade in Belfast on Sunday, 2nd November.

However, Richard Walsh of Republican Sinn Féin pointed out that they had given tacit approval to other similar parades. “Monica Digney declined the opportunity to oppose such a spectacle parading through the streets of Ballymena. When it was discussed in the council chambers in August, it received unanimous support,” he said.

“Stormont Member Paul Maskey has said that his party's opposition to the illegal occupation of Iraq is well known. However, Martin McGuinness entered into talks with Iraqis to encourage them to surrender to the Anglo-American presence.

“It is also the case that his party now openly endorses the continued illegal occupation of Ireland, and seek to elicit support for and enlistment in the RUC.

“Stunts such as this upcoming 'protest' cannot disguise the ever-increasing pro-British credentials of the Provisionals.”

It wouldn't be the first time. For example, Martin McGuinness commented that he would prefer Ian Paisley to Republican Sinn Féin after they protested Paisley's visit to Cobh.

SF/PIRA do far worse..................in the latest IMC report, it clearly states that the ONLY current intelligence gathering done by PIRA, is focused on anti-GFA Republicans.

A PROMINENT opponent of the Iraq war has denounced Sinn Fein's attempt to disrupt the Ulster soldiers' homecoming parade.
Green Party MLA Brian Wilson, who described the war in Iraq as "illegal", said Sinn Fein cared little for the suffering in that nation, but was motivated by an attempt to stir up diminishing sectarian tensions.

its amazing that after the overnight emergence of dozens of eirige RIR posters throughout West Belfast two weeks ago calling for a protest to be supported on the "shameful parade" day the shinners decide to have a protest of their own, coincidence or what?

Anybody know if they applied to the Parades Commision?

author by Mr Informativepublication date Thu Oct 23, 2008 23:47author address author phone Report this post to the editors

eirigi did not seek permission for their protest.

Their spokesperson Sean MacBradaigh was quoted in today Belfast newsletter saying that is would be "...be ludicrous for an Irish republican organisation to apply to the British occupying authorities for permission to protest against the British occupation."

Couldn't have put it better myself.

The parades commission have now instructed both the Brit army and the shinners to bring their march / counter marches forward by one hour. It would appear that they are willing to go to any lengths to disrupt the eirigi protest. All the more reason for as many people as possible to make it to Belfast on Sunday week.

This question was in reference to the Sinn Fein protest.I accept Mr Informative that I didnt make this clear, its a consequence of a talker lately becoming a texter.

Tha for clarifying the Eirigi position as regards the Parades Commission,I seen the link to the newsletter from Eirigi.org earlier and support their position fully.

Looking forward to the day, hope to see you there and keep safe comrade.....
